Add the chopped apples to a large mixing bowl. In another bowl, combine the cinnamon with the pumpkin pie spice. Toss the spice mixture on top of the chopped apples.
Pour apple and pumpkin mixture into a 9 x 13 baking dish and spread evenly. Then top the apples and pumpkin with the entire box of cake mix, spreading the mix evenly over the fruit.
Next, drizzle the butter over the top of the cake mix. Place the baking dish in the oven for 45 minutes. The cake is done with the syrup is bubbly and the topping is brown and crisp.
