Preheat the oven to 375°F. Spray a 15x10 inch baking sheet/jelly-roll pan with non-stick baking spray. You can also line the baking sheet pan with parchment paper.
Cream together butter, brown sugar, and sugar.
Add in vanilla extract and eggs, and mix until well combined.
Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt together in a bowl. Gradually beat in the flour mixture. Mix until combined.
Stir in the chocolate chips; reserve ¼ cup.
Press the cookie dough into an even layer throughout the bottom of the pan.
Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top of the cookie dough.
Bake for 20 to 24 minutes. The edges will look golden brown, and the middle will be set up.
Allow to cool in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into bars.
Notes
Make sure the butter you use is at room temperature. This will help ensure it mixes and combines with the sugars properly.
Be careful not to overmix the ingredients. Overmixing the batter can result in tough, chewy cookies. Mix the ingredients until just combined.
Keep a close eye on the cookies while they are baking and remove them from the oven as soon as they start to turn golden brown around the edges. This will ensure that they stay moist and chewy.
