In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the softened cream cheese with the granulated sugar and vanilla extract.
Unroll both cans of dough; separate into 16 triangles. On a round baking sheet, arrange the triangles in a ring so short sides of triangles form a circle in the center. Dough will probably overlap. The dough ring should look like the sun.
Spread cream cheese mixture in a circle on top of the crescent roll triangles.
Spoon apple mixture evenly over cream cheese.
Bring each dough triangle up over the top of the apple mixture.
Tuck the ends of the crescent rolls under the bottom of dough to secure it.
Brush the entire surface with the egg wash and sprinkle with the remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar.
Bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown and the dough is thoroughly baked.
Cool for 5 minutes.
Prepare the powdered sugar glaze by stirring the milk into the powdered sugar.
Drizzle over the top of the slightly cooled danish.
