Place the candy melts or almond bark in microwave-safe bowls or in a melting pot. Microwave the chocolate in 30 second intervals making sure to stir after each time to make sure the chocolate heats evenly.
Dip each Oreo in the melted chocolate. Flip the cookies with a fork to get them fully covered with melted chocolate.
When you’re ready to remove the cookies, gently tap the fork on the edge of the bowl to remove the excess chocolate.
Place the cookies on a parchment lined baking sheet, and immediately add the conversation hearts and sprinkles. If you wait too long, the sprinkles will not stick.
Leave at room temperature for at least 30 minutes or refrigerate for 10-15 minutes for the chocolate to harden.
Notes
For smooth chocolate melting: Use patience with a gentle heat. You can use a melting pot or microwave in 30-second bursts, and give it a good stir each time to avoid hot spots!
Add shortening or coconut oil: A small amount helps thin the chocolate and gives it a smooth, glossy finish.
Avoid any contact with water: Even a tiny drop can cause the chocolate to seize and turn grainy.
