Apple Caramel Puff Pastry Braid with Cream Cheese Filling

The flaky, buttery puff pastry dough is wrapped around a sweet and tart filling of thinly-sliced apples and sweetened cream cheese, and then it's all braided into a beautiful and impressive danish.

This apple danish braid has the contrast of a crisp pastry with soft apples.  It's heavenly, and the sweetness of the sugar glaze takes it over the top.

For Puff Pastry: – Puff pastry – Caramel sauce – Egg white – Sugar for sprinkling For Apple Filling: – Apples – Brown sugar – Cinnamon For Cream Cheese Filling: – Cream cheese – White sugar – Vanilla extract

Prep the apple filling by combining the apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Prep the cream cheese filling by combining the cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla.

Roll out the puff pastry, and add the cream cheese filling, then the apple filling down the center.

To form the braid, cut diagonal strips down both sides  of the filling.  Begin the braid by crisscrossing the strips of puff pastry.

Brush with an egg wash and sprinkle with granulated sugar. Bake at 400°F for 20-25 minutes.
