Something we try to do every year is travel into New York City to see the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Plaza and do a little walking around as well. We try to go on New Year's Day when the traffic is not so bad and we can easily park on the street without having to pay for a parking garage. We've missed a few years because my hubby was overseas but thankfully he was home this year...so off we went back to where we grew up...
Crossing under the Hudson River through the Lincoln Tunnel...
The tree...
The four of us in front of the tree...
A trip into the city wouldn't be complete without a stop at St. Patrick's Cathedral...
A closeup...
The stain glass is amazing inside the cathedral...
It is so beautiful...
The manger at the altar...
This is another chapel behind the altar. It was so peaceful and beautiful here...
The Christmas balls near the tree...
Radio City Music Hall...
Another "must" is a pretzel from a street vendor...
This year we walked up to Times Square...
And the Theater District...
We always have pizza for lunch when we're in the city.
This year we found a great restaurant that was actually in a
converted old church...
The beautiful stain glass ceiling in the restaurant...
Nothing like New York City pizza...
Garlic knots covered in cheese...
We had such an amazing time this year.
New York City is a great place to visit especially during the holidays!
I'll leave you with this photo from just a few years ago...
