On New Year's Day our family did something we haven't done in YEARS.
We made the drive into "THE CITY" to see the beautiful
Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.
The Colonel and I grew up in Queens, NY and love New York City.
When our kids were little, we lived in Paterson, NJ and would often make the
drive into the city to see the tree.
The kids and me back in 2001...
The drive in through the Lincoln Tunnel, thankfully was NOT crowded.
Years ago when I worked in the city, I used to take a bus to get to work every day
and there were some days we would sit in the tunnel for over an hour...
It now costs $13.00 to get into the city...
Christmas ornaments on top of a fountain near the tree...
The Christmas Tree...
The four of us...
Olivia and Michael...
Just a FEW years ago...
Olivia, Michael and me...
And, again, a few years ago...
The Colonel and me in front of the beautiful angels that line the walk to the tree...
Inside St. Patrick's Cathedral.
If you ever visit the city, you MUST visit this beautiful church...
Such a "touristy" thing to do...
A little snack...
Lunch...
We had such a GREAT time and decided
to go back again next year.
We have a great sponsor for this week's Foodie Friends Friday linky party...

That looks like such a fun day! I loved seeing the pics from 10 years ago. That was the Christmas Rich and I were dating and then we were married the next year. Time passes so quickly!

Hi Lois! What a fun family trip! I love NYC also as my hubby and I visited before the kids came along - it was our Christmas present that year and we arrived in the city on Boxing Day. Love the tree and even went inside The Plaza to see their big tree in the foyer.
Thanks for sharing!

I love it when we give birth to new traditions. There is such a richness there.

It really is beautiful, isn't it. We're on the upper east side and don't usually make it over there (typical New Yorkers!). Glad you had a fun time! 🙂

Sorry my first comment didn't post so here goes. This is precious, making memories in 2001, and then 2012. My question is this... How is that Michael and Olivia look older, but you and the Colonel look so much younger? ~smile~Beautiful photos of wonderful memories! Enjoy your day.
