My memories from 2011
~A good book I read~
The Healing
by Wanda Brunstetter
I actually finished this book the week before Christmas.
It was book number 2 in
The Kentucky Brothers series.
It was SOOOOO good.
BUT...
I have to wait till September 2012
for book number 3.
And yes, there was a cliff-hanger!
~A great film/movie I watched~
This was a hard one to answer, but I thought the updated
Planet of the Apes
was pretty good...
I remember watching the movies when they came out
on television with my sister in the late 70s and being incredibly
afraid when Charlton Heston found the
Statue of Liberty destroyed.
Silly.
~A new place I visited~
Southeastern University
where Olivia attends college...
~An inspiring verse or quote I read~
"I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming
conviction that I had nowhere to go.
My own wisdom, and that of all about me, seemed insufficient for the day."
Abraham Lincoln
I have this quote framed hanging in our entryway.
It's been a favorite of mine for years.
~A discovery I made~
Pinterest.
I seriously love having a place to "pin" all those recipes I find!
~A new skill I acquired~
Re-learning how to make pie crust...
~A lesson I learned~
Just to keep my mouth shut and remember that not everyone
wants my opinion or wants to live in an organized house.
~A moment I will always remember~
My Colonel walking down the airport hallway in January 2011
after being in Afghanistan for over a year.
The picture is a little blurry but seeing all the people stop him
to shake his hand was so wonderful...
The four of us...

Thank you for reading my testimony! Not many people do I think, with it at the very bottom of my blog. I am so thankful to be saved. ~~ May I ask what movie that was where C. Heston found the Statue of LIberty destroyed?
We watched an old film last night that he starred in with Jane Wyman. I enjoyed it. I can't think of the title though. The setting was an oil town and he struck it rich and wanted to marry Jane W. She had her little heart set on running her very succesful dress shop. Aha...the name of the movie was 'Lucy Valiant'

I LOVE Wanda Brunstetter. ALL her books are good. I met her in September when we were in Pennsylvania visiting Amish Country. She was having a book-signing and was so nice!
Happy New Year sweet blogging friend!

Looks like a good year at your house. I enjoyed your pictures, but the one that made me teary was the one where your colonel arrived home. I can only imagine how excited and proud you must have felt.
