Michael! Today my son turns 12!
What joy he has brought to this family. Here he is opening one of his birthday presents.
We celebrated on Monday since the Colonel was home for the long weekend.
He loved all his presents, especially his very own cell phone.
He didn't know what it was when he opened it, but you can tell by the look on his face that he figured out pretty quickly that he now has his very own cell phone!

And of course with his Opa, whom he loved so very much!
12 years ago today was a very scary day for us. Michael's birth was very unpredictable.
I actually went into labor with him 8 weeks early but was able to hold on till his due date, but by the time that date arrived I was very huge, I guess that's what 8 weeks of bed rest does!
Anyway, during Michael's birth he somehow managed to get stuck...
he was just too big, he weighed 10 ½ pounds!
All of a sudden 3 nurses were on top of my belly trying to push him out, his heart rate had dropped tremendously and I was in the worse pain I ever experienced as the doctor proceeded to break Michael's collarbone to save his life.
He was born with no heart beat, not breathing and quite blue.
Thankfully they were able to revive him and he has been a joy to us ever since!

Happy Birthday Michael...I remember it all.....how you came out "black" and bruised. We love you! I also remember the first moment I saw you, Oma was holding you, and I started crying because of your bruises...and how Oma told me to stop crying! Another 5 year old moment! Aunt Liz

What a journey for Michael to make his way into the world. You are an amazing woman to have coped with all that, and to have gone on to raise such gorgeous and talented children!
