The Colonel called with some news last Wednesday.
Guess who's going to Afghanistan?
Come on, take a guess.
Okay, I'll give you a hint.
The Colonel.
How long will he be gone?
Oh, just a year.
WHAT?
Yes, a year.
He reports to Ft. Benning, GA on December 12th.
For those of you counting, that's in about 5 weeks.
He was home over the weekend and we told the kids.
They seem to be doing okay with everything.
Me...well that's another story.
I'm dealing with it. It's beginning to sink in.
I know it's going to be a hard year, but the Lord gave me a promise.
It's found in Joshua 1:9
"Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."
Thank you for your prayers!

I'm sure your heart is flooding with so many different emotions right now, as I imagine you are bursting with pride and happiness right now at the importance of his position and the great service he is doing for all of America. But at the same time I'm sure there is sadness and uncertainity of the future clouding it all up. But the time will go faster than you probably ever drempt it would, and the Lord will see you through this season in your life...I will definitely pray for him, for you, and for you children until he is safely back home.

Thanks so much for your visit and comment. He is not perfect, but seems to know what matters. I know you must be torn with emotion-happiness, fear, pride,...I also love Jeremiah 29:10-12. I love Mother Theresa's quote-" I know God won't give me anything I can't handle..but sometimes I wish He didn't trust me so much" :)I will pray for you all and thank you for your family's dedication and sacrifice.

I know this must be so hard for you!!
You must be so proud of your husband for the awesome responsibility that the Lord has called him to. He sounds like an amazing man.
I know that you are probably so worried about him and a year is such a long time to be apart. My heart goes out to you my dear -
As I have gotten to know you in blogland - I have grown to care for you and your family. I will definitely hold you and your family up in prayer during this hard time - that the Lord will use your husband mightily during his time apart from you and that the Lord will hold you and the kids in His loving arms until your husband returns to you.
We will be here for you in any way you need us okay?
Praying....
Blessings to you sweet sister,
Kymber

My heart goes out to you dear, it might be a long year, but just remember what I've been telling myself if my son joins the army....God can look over him just as easily over there, and all of us here in blogland will be there for YOU!
