So how do I top yesterday's post?
I have no clue!
Nothing funny today, sorry!
Olivia and Michael finished school yesterday. I'm quite sad about this. Next year they will be both be leaving the house together....the bus for junior and senior high school comes at 6:40. Michael has been getting on the bus at 8:00 for elementary school for the past 6 years and will be in junior high next year.
Wow, where did the years go?
Olivia starts her job next week. Michael is leaving for a camping trip Friday night and will be gone until Sunday afternoon.
How and when did they stop being little kids and start doing all these things without me?
Oh I know they still need me, but it's a different kind of need. Olivia still needs me to drive her to work and pick her up at the end of the day. She goes for her driving test next month, but do you think I'm going to let her take MY car and just go??? I don't think so.
Michael needs me to take him shopping for his camping trip. He'll need me to help him pack and he'll hopefully call me at least once while he's gone!
But...do they really need me?
I think so.
One thing's for sure...I know I need them!

Your children are so lovely Lois, and it is obvious from all your posts that they are blessed just as much with you as you are with them. Fiona x

It does go too fast... my dear DIL is already experiencing it with her little guy Sam. He's 19 months old and said, "See ya, Daddy", the other day as my son left for work. It hit her, that her baby is not a baby anymore... and so it starts...:{
My daughter was in her last high school choir concert last night and will continue to have "lasts" this next week as graduation looms next Friday...and so it goes.
I'm with you- I'm not liking it right now:P
Excuse me, I've got to go get a tissue...

You have such a nice looking family ♥ It's very hard when the kids start to grow up. At least it was for me. When my oldest son moved out I cried for two weeks. He kept telling me he would be back every day to see me but it still didn't help. I had a bad case of empty nest syndrome but now they have all grown up and we have wonderful daughter-in-laws and grandchildren. My days are filled again :>)
A Hint of Home says
Cute pictures of the three of you.
Time stops for no one. It passes so quickly. Enjoy them while they are close. I know you do.
A House FULL of Grace says
That top picture is how I remember them. I did a freezeframe in my mind, but obviously it didn't translate to real life! Right now I can't imagine getting to that stage, the day to day of little ones can be so overwhelming. Thanks for this post, it's a great reminder that these are the best days of my life!
Hugs. How's Phil's knee?

I put that picture up so people wouldn't feel bad when they are out looking all the beautiful blogs. My table is full of sewing for my family and homeschool books. Actually, that picture was looking pretty good. LOL It's since cleaned off and I'm a little more organized. I've still got stuff to wrap up. Catch ya later.

It does go by too quickly! They will always need you, but just like you said, in different ways. Cherish each and every day.

What cute kids you have.
I can't even go to the school today for Bradley's last day because I can't stop crying. Time just goes soooo fast. I really need to learn how to stop time.
As soon as I figure it out...I will let you know!
Liz says
Yeah, I hear ya! Growing up way too fast!

You have beautiful children. Yes, they grow up way too fast. I thought I did so much with my kids when they were young and at home. Now that they are adults, I keep wishing I had done even more. Don't know when I could have done it...but I still wish.
Too early for you...but grandchildren are WONDERFUL!

I know it's hard seeing them grow up right before your eyes....your babies! But they still need you....even my 20 year son needs me still! Being a mom is THE BEST job ever! I'm so thankful and blessed with my kids! I think it's the highest calling!

I truly agree with all the other comments, they will always need you.
We have watched our 3 sons go from babies into fine adults and now fathers. The circle of life is a beautiful thing.

awww...your kids are beautiful. You even named one after me. Thank you for that. 🙂 I'm right there with you. My little girl, my best girlfriend, just graduated from high school. She keeps telling me, "I'm not gone yet, stop crying," but I tell her she doesn't understand...she kinda is gone or at least one foot out the door. At least she's not in a hurry.
God bless you today dear friend.

This is so very true and I even realized when I got tobring home my first baby girl...I cried realizing how fast she would grow up! That just made me realize how important it is to savor each blessed moment we have with them at any age (even when they're driving us crazy)!
Now I get to savor both my children and the little grandchildren...God is so good!
blessings,
marcy
p.s. I kinda like the 'egg' story too, so glad you enjoyed it.

At Home With Amy says
It is sometimes very hard to let your babies grow up. We want to keep them little forever. They definitely have other plans though. We want to make good choices for them even if they don't understand why we do what we do. One day if we raise them right, they will know why mom said "no" when she did and "because I said so" when necessary. No one ever said raising a child would be easy but oh the rewards we reap. I wouldn't trade one minute of hard or easy, good or bad, happy or sad for anything in the world. My kids are my world!!!
Blessings to you and your kids.
Hugs,
AMY

What a sweet post and picture! Your kids are so blessed to have you, too. It can be hard for us parents to adjust to the changes of our kids growing up, but I know you will enjoy your children just as much when they are fully grown as you do now. I like how you appreciate them and cherish them. You have a wonderful little family there and it'll always be that way!

Y'all are too cute! Sometimes I look at myself and think, "I was just in middle school and now I am getting to the end of college and about to get married." Life goes too fast!!!

I know what you mean! It definitely is a different kind of need. My two are 7 and 11 and it's amazing to watch them grow!
Great picture!

I understand...sometimes I wish I could turn back the clock and raise my children all over again. Not that I wish to do anything different ...I just want to do it all again....it has been the most amazing thing to be a mom.
They are beautiful children...so is your garden!

I don't think our children ever stop needing us. The need is just different. My son will be turning 20 in a few weeks and I just don't know where all the time has gone. Sometimes I wish I could make him a little boy again but I really do enjoy him as an adult. Next to my husband he is my best friend! Have a great day and enjoy every phase of your children's life. Each one brings special moments! What a beautiful photo of you and your children! Hugs, Loretta

How nice to see such a sweet picture of you and your children as I start my day! And guess what... big kids still need you. We are watching grandchildren this weekend as parents are getting away for their anniversary... I often get phone calls asking how to make a certain meal... how to grow a garden...
I love my relationship with my adult children! They enrich my life.
