So the Colonel and I finally canceled our home phone.
Yesterday was the first day of only having our cell phones to connect
to the outside world.
And you know what?
I love it.
Seriously, I didn't get one call from someone trying to sell me something or
trying to collect money for their charity.
We've been thinking about it for some time and with our daughter in college
and the Colonel not making what a Colonel makes any longer,
we figured we would try to save some money
by disconnecting our house phone.
So the question of the day is...
Do you have a house phone?
Oh and in case you're wondering,
we're saving $52.00 a month.
You have to start somewhere, right?
Enjoy your day!

We've been considering doing this too, just haven't taken the plunge yet. We did discontinue cable last fall and I can't say that we really miss it all that much.

We do have a house phone but we never answer it instead letting the "machine" do the talking. Although it rings often there are very few messages on the thing which tells me that lots of the rings were marketing calls...
Hmmmmm, your right maybe we should just get rid of the thing...LOL

We canceled our land line 5 years ago. No solicitors, no automated messages from politicians during voting, no nonsense. We love it. When we had our land line my family was 'long distance' being a whopping 6 miles from us. But, outside our calling area. We save roughly 140$ a month. 😉

You are doing just what we are doing. We went from a $14.50 a month trash service to Trash Taxi at $10 a month.
Still have the home phone - I could give up my cell.
Is your husband retired now?

I haven't had a landline in years. Last year I did get a magicjack (regular phone that hooks up through the computer for $40/year). That's a good alternative if you find yourself going over on cell minutes.
Have a great week!

Hey Sweet Friend!
Thanks for sharing about this decision. Many of my friends rely only on their cell phones. I still have a corded dinosaur because I feel more confident giving out personal info and CC #s over it...but I am open to change.
That is quite a savings too!
I think we would save about $35, so we might just investigate it.

I have to admit we have considered doing this too, but have not yet. I will be watching to see what you think. I know what you mean about watching those pennies. We have found ourselves doing the same, and your soo right. Everyone counts! Have a good day. HUGS
