Yesterday was Olivia's first day of work at McDonald's!
She worked 5 hours.
She came home completely exhausted and smelling like French fries.
Which for some odd reason,
didn't really smell all that appetizing!
I told her it would get better. I told her she won't always be this exhausted.
I told her her feet won't always hurt this much.
I told her she'll love the paycheck...and that seemed to be the only thing to help!
She has a goal...to purchase a car next year.
I'm very proud of her!
Today she has off.
I'm glad because tomorrow she works 8 hours!
So if you can, please say a prayer for her!
Don't forget about my goal...
Read yesterday's post!
Thanks!

My first job was pumping gas and washing windshields. Tell her the fries smell much better than gas...
I will be praying for her. So proud of her for having a goal and working toward it!

Oh, poor Olivia! It's so tough to adjust to the working world. I know she can do it! To me, the worst part would be that icky fries smell (although I do love McD fries!). Prayers for strength! -tw

Hi Sunshine,
Yea, those fries don't smell all that good do they?? My kids both worked in restaurants when they were going to college, and my dad owned a restaurant, so the smell of all that food permeates everything you wear, and your shoes are a bit greasy on the bottoms as well. You will have her removing them at the door soon.
Yea, that first job can be real fun especially when you are learning the ropes cause John Q. public is not always very patient.,
and when you are learning you need someone to give you a little grace.
Will be praying for Olivia, like her name, it is beautiful!! and she is a very pretty girl, also looks very sweet.
have a good evening hon,
Blessings, Nellie

Prayers for Olivia that things will get better. My grandson is working for his dad on construction as go-for boy but he is saving up for his first car also. He is also learning good work ethics.
Love hearing about these young kids who have a job and a goal.
I hope that you make your goal.
Hugs

Good for her! I know she can do it; but will say a prayer that it gets easier each day she's there.

I will pray for her! It's so good to see young people working for their desires, instead of parents handing it over to them! Our son went to work at 16....saved enough money (before we were even ready) to help pay off the car I had driven for one year and it became his! I was so proud of him!
Your daughter will be so proud of herself when she gets that first paycheck!
Have a great Weds!

Oh boy does this bring back memories. My first job was at Del Taco (a fast food taco stand) and I remember those days have achy feet and not smelling so great! It is all good though as she is learning great work ethic and like you said she will love that paycheck! I'll pray for her.

I remember my first job at Arby's and coming home smelling like fries- after awhile i didn't smell it anymore but others did.
and boy the aching back , yes it gets easier.
Will pray for her on her 8 hour day- thats along one too-.
Jill says
Tell her it does get better and you do get used to standing on your feet for several hours. AND, maybe if she works there she will start to HATE fast food. (I need to get to that point!) I just checked and you're up to 90 followers. Can't wait for the give-away!

Brings back memories of my first job in a drug store at the newspaper counter. I am sure she will love her paycheck. Isn't all this blogging fun? I hit 100 this week and could not believe it either. No one ever listens to what I say at home but it seems people are reading what I post and liking it:) Makes me feel like a million dollars and keeps me smiling:) I am so happy I have met you and so many other wonderful ladies out there in blog land.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OLIVIA!
AND YES, IT WILL GET BETTER.
THE FIRST FEW DAYS AT ANY JOB IS ALWAYS SO EXHAUSTING AND MIND BOGGLING! I GUESS BECAUSE IT'S NEW AND SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAN WHAT WE ARE USED TO. SHE'LL BE GREAT THOUGH. HOPEFULLY, SHE'LL GET THAT CAR NEXT YEAR!
GOD BLESS YOUR DAY LOIS!

Having the goal of the car will make each and every hard day worth it for Olivia...and when she gets to her goal and has the car she will appreciate it more and take better care of it...she is learning a valuable lesson...I pray that her she succeeds.

I so will. I understand so much. My oldest daughter worked at Country Kitchen all through high school. My youngest now works at TJ MAXX. It is so hard to see our babies having growing pains! I am praying for her!
Blessings for today~
Carrie
How did you decide to go award free~I don't want to seem unkind but they take up so much time forwarding on?
Tara says
My first job was at McDonald's when I was 15 back in 1994 I believe. It was tough, but I really liked getting those paychecks every two weeks. Olivia, just keep your goal in sight and you can't go wrong!
P.S. Don't wash your uniform with any other laundry...as the french fry smell will transfer to other clothes! ; )
Blessings each day says
No matter where we are, we are "there" and, in order to make it the best, we need to look for and concentrate on only what is 'best' about it, if only the paycheck. Maybe you ask her what good things she finds happening each day. with my step/heart daughter, I always tell her, on the way out to Kroger, to make the world a better place with your sweet smile and a good attitude...challenge yourself to change grumpy people.
blessings and hugs,
marcy

Hang in there Olivia~ my son has worked at Burger King for a year now, it does get better once you get used to it:)Remember to wear comfy shoes with some good walking insoles.
Lisa says
I am impressed. I lasted only four hours at a McDonald's job, many, many years ago. I think working fast food is extremely challenging, underpaid, and not for the faint hearted.
You are correct in saying that it will get easier. All jobs are overwhelming at first. Eventually, they all get to be routine. Keep us posted as she works her way towards the car.

Oh and prayers being sent up for Olivia that things will get easier for her. Hugs
