I usually shop after thanksgiving, so I can get the sales and by then my kids have there wishlists made. I do purchase wrapping paper and gift bags every season on clearance and save it for next year.

I shop for Christmas all during the year as I see items that might interest my friends and family.. By Thanksgiving I have all but the little extras....The problem is right before Christmas I have the urge to go out among the throngs and I always buy more!!!
