"Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
The Sovereign Lord is my strength..."
I am recovering nicely from my surgery.
Able to do more and more each day, but still getting tired when I do.
It seems this past week we had another surprise in the form of an email
to my Colonel...
Yes, it seems he received orders for his third deployment to go back
to Afghanistan and he leaves in just a few days.
to Afghanistan and he leaves in just a few days.
We never saw this coming, especially with only two years to go for
his retirement from the Army Reserves.
My Colonel receiving the Bronze Star in Afghanistan on Christmas Day 2010 |
It seems like he just came home from his last deployment.
And now we get ready to say goodbye all over again for another year.

I know the day is coming closer and closer now and I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking about you and sending prayers and love to you and your family!

Lois, you know you are in our thoughts and prayers. My heart aches for you and your family. I pray for protection for your husband and you all while he is gone. Hugs from me.

That scripture has always meant a lot to me. When my mom passed away in 2000, my pastor shared this passage when he told the congregation about what had happened. It's so powerful. I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's deployment. I can only imagine how difficult that must be for you all. Just keep placing your faith and trust in God...He will see you through. Thank your husband for his service to our country. God Bless him.

Oh, I'm so sorry he has to go again and so soon! Tell him he has our heartfelt thanks for his service to our country. I will remember him in my prayers and you, too, for continued healing! Take care.

St. Teresa said that last quote and I have said it to myself many many times. I am so glad you are feeling better. And so sorry he is being deployed again. That has to hurt.

Hello, Lois
I'm a single person, so I won't pretend to know how you must feel. My heart goes out to you and your family. May your husband return safely to your arms.

Thanks to your husband for his service to our country.... and prayers for you all as he leaves again.

I struggle with that as well, especially lately, so much going on with our family and none of it good, as you know my son will be heading over there as well and the timing could not be any worse, without going into details may I ask you to please keep my little grandson in your prayers? Your Colonel will be in my prayers as he deploys again, and yes it does seem like he just got back from the last one:/ stay strong my friend! (((HUGS)))
Vee says
Yes, sometimes we all do; however, your situation puts mine into perspective. Will be keeping you and your family tucked in my prayers. I also want to say thank you for all that your husband does in his service to our country and to you and the home team for all that you go through as a family. Blessings to you all.

I can't even imagine what it is like to have your husband be deployed. I do know what is like to have him on another continent as my hubby and I lived in different countries and continents for 25 months before he got his visa. And I do know it is like worrying about them when you don't know what is happening and wondering if they are ok when you can't get through to them. My heart goes out to you and your children. Enjoy your time together before he leaves.
