Losing Weight with Jenny Craig
Today I’m starting something NEW and I’m sharing it with YOU! I’ve struggled with my weight for what seems like “forever” and lately it’s been really difficult to try to even lose a few pounds. So I did something that I am so excited about and joined Jenny Craig.
About four years ago I lost a lot of weight and it felt good. No, it felt AMAZING. And then last year happened.
I was really sick at the beginning of last year and then I was busy with preparations for our daughter’s wedding. My sister-in-law, Beth passed away suddenly.
Our son, Michael, graduated from high school and actually had the nerve to leave home to go to college! All of that plus working many long hours sitting in front of my computer the pounds slowly started to creep back on.
I saw a photo of myself recently and realized I needed to do something. My husband took this photo of me on our way out for the night with some friends.
It took me forever to find an outfit I felt comfortable in and I really didn’t want to pose for this photo, but he insisted. I looked at the photo the next morning and realized this was my Jenny Craig Moment. I needed to do something serious about losing weight and I knew I needed help.
How the Jenny Craig Program Works
Jenny Craig is a clinically proven weight loss program designed to provide structure and support to help members lose weight. But more importantly, it’s going to help me learn how to keep the weight off. That’s something I have never seemed to be able to do. AND there’s no counting, no tracking, no worrying!
As a Jenny Craig member, I have my own personal consultant who provides me with one-on-one support and helps create my personalized meals and activity plans. My consultant, Faye, is also going to help me with portion control and long-term healthy eating habits.
What’s really great about the Jenny Craig program is that it is available in person or by phone! That’s right, if I’m having a busy week, I can call in and talk to my consultant.
My First Consultation
Last Tuesday was my first consultation at my local Jenny Craig location. I love the colors of the center! My consultant, Faye, was very friendly and explained how the program works. She made me feel very relaxed especially while doing my measurements and the dreaded weigh in. She also helped me set a very realistic goal of 20 pounds and then went over my first week menu with me.
My First Jenny Craig Menu
Jenny Craig’s menu has almost 100 items including entrees, desserts and snacks that were developed by registered dietitians, nutritionists and culinary experts. The menu includes entrees, snacks, desserts and seasonal items as well. The food is both frozen and shelf stable making the meals really easy to put together.
I add my own fruits, vegetables and dairy for volume and nutritional balance and I get to eat six times a day.

The food is delicious and so easy to prepare.
Breakfast – Breakfast Scramble with 1/2 serving of fruit
Lunch – Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich with 2 cups of garden salad. I didn’t think I was going to like this sandwich as my hubby is the “Philly Cheesesteak lover” in the family. But boy was I wrong! It was amazing!
Dinner – Turkey and Wild Rice with steamed green beans
Snack – Lemon Cookies and a small apple. Since I am up late working I saved my fruit snack from the afternoon and ate it with my night time snack of these yummy cookies.
So there you have it. I’m sharing my exciting New Beginning with YOU! One of the things I’m looking forward to with the Jenny Craig program is learning about portion control and listening to my body tell me when I’m hungry. I can’t wait to share with YOU more about the Jenny Craig program.
