How to Decorate Halloween Brownies?
When it comes to baking homemade brownies, here are some essential tips to ensure your treats turn out perfect every time:
- Get ready to elevate the flavor and texture of your brownies with top-notch chocolate, cocoa powder, and fresh ingredients!
- Do not overmix the brownie batter. The brownies will turn out tough if you overmix the batter.
- Line the baking pan with parchment paper. This makes it easier to remove the brownies from the pan once they've cooled.
- Be careful not to overcook the brownies. Check them a few minutes before they should be done.
- Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before removing them to a cutting board to cut. This will help them set and firm up which will give you cleaner slices.

Recipe Substitutions and Variations
- If you don't want to use coconut oil, you can use vegetable oil.
- You could also use your favorite brownie mix!
- Try almond flour, oat flour, or gluten-free blends for different textures and dietary needs. You may need to adjust the amount slightly.
- Use mini chocolate chips, raisins, or even small pieces of dried fruit as alternatives for the candy eyes.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Mix the flour, sugars, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt together. Mix in the eggs, melted coconut oil, and vanilla.
Step 2: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and set aside. Line the baking pan with either parchment paper or aluminum foil to make them easier to remove after baking.
Step 3: Whisk the softened cream cheese, egg, and powdered sugar together. Once smooth, add the orange food coloring.
Step 4: Pour the cream cheese mixture on top of the brownie batter. Top with Halloween sprinkles and candy eyes.
Top Tip
Smaller candy eyes tend to melt during baking, so if this happens, just add some new ones while the brownies are hot.
Baking Instructions
Step 5: Bake at 350° F for 30 to 35 minutes or until the center no longer jiggles. Cool the brownies completely before cutting.
How to Cut Brownies without Sticking to Knife
Step 6: For clean-cut brownies, let them cool completely before slicing with a plastic knife (for gooey brownies), an electric knife (for thick ones), or a serrated knife (for cakey ones). Dip your knife in hot water and wipe it clean between each cut for extra-neat slices!

Try using a warm knife to prevent the brownies from sticking to the blade. You can also try using a plastic knife! Even an electric knife will give you perfect crumb-free slices.
When brownies are hot, they tend to be softer and more prone to crumbling or sticking to the knife. Cutting them when they are fully cooled allows for cleaner and neater slices. So always allow the brownies to cool completely before slicing and serving.
