Quick Tips
It doesn't matter which recipe you're going to bake, these tips will help make sure these cute Valentine's Day recipes and other desserts come out perfect every time:
- Butter: If butter is too cold or not soft enough, it will be clumpy and not mix completely in the batter. This will lead to dense cookies.
- Sugar: Beat the butter and sugar together longer than you usually do. This will help create a lot of air into the mixture which is what you need for perfect cookies.
- Eggs: You want the eggs to be room temperature as well. Add the eggs one at a time and incorporate each one before adding the next egg.
- Flour: Once you add the flour, do not over-mix the dough.
- Chill the Dough - if the directions call for you to chill the dough, guess what? You need to chill the dough! When you chill the dough it helps the dough roll out evenly. It also helps you slice the cookies evenly. And most importantly, it helps the cookies not to spread when they are placed in the hot oven.
