DIY Mason Jar Cookie Mix
While wide-mouth jars are ideal for layering ingredients, regular mason jars work just as well! Use a wide-mouth funnel for easy filling and a tamper to pack down each layer.

Substitutions and Variations
- Add a layer of ½ cup dried walnuts, pecans or almonds.
- Mini chocolate chips work nicely as well.
- Or you can add a layer of ¼ cup dried cranberries.

Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Mix 2 cups of flour with baking soda and baking powder.
Step 2: Mix the remaining 1 ½ cups of flour with the ginger, cloves, cinnamon, and allspice in a separate bowl.

Step 3: Use a wide mouth funnel to help you place the flour in a 1-quart jar. Pack firmly to make an even layer.
Step 4: Add the brown sugar on top of the flour. Press it down to make another even layer with a tart tamper.
Step 5: Add the remaining flour mixture on top of the brown sugar.
Step 6: Print and cut out the recipe tags and lid toppers.

Ingredients
- 3 ½ cups all purpose flour, divided
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
Method
- Mix together 2 cups of flour, baking soda, and baking powder in a medium bowl.
- Mix together remaining 1 ½ cups flour, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, and allspice in a separate bowl.
- Layer flour-baking powder mixture, then the brown sugar, and finally the flour-spice mixture into a 1-quart wide mouth canning jar.
- Pack firmly after adding each layer.
- Cover the jar with a lid and seal well. Write an instructions tag and attach it to the jar.
