How to make Chocolate Covered Oreos
Type of Chocolate: For this recipe, I used white chocolate chips to melt. You can also use candy melts or almond bark for dipping.
Melt gently: Use a double boiler or microwave in short intervals, stirring frequently to prevent scorching. If the chocolate gets too thick, reheat it gently. If it's too thin, let it cool slightly.
Tools: Use a fork or a dipping tool to dip the Oreos. Try not to pierce the cookie so it doesn't break.
Parchment paper: Place the dipped Oreos on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
Add the Candy: While the chocolate is still wet, decorate each cookie.
Cooling: Let the chocolate set completely at room temperature before storing or serving.

Kitchen Tool Spotlight
Paramount Crystals help create a thinner, more even coating and prevent the chocolate from cracking.
- Two - 2 Lb Tubs of Paramount Crystals!
- These crystals are used to aid in the melting of carob, chocolate, and yogurt coatings.
- Paramount crystals help make the coatings smooth and easier to pour into molds and also help to thin out coatings for ease in dipping and coating.
- Add ¼ cup of crystals per each pound of coating. Melt your chocolate and add a little at a time, stir between each addition, until the desired consistency is reached.
Step 3: Place the dipped Oreos onto a parchment lined baking sheet to harden.
Step 4: Melt the dark chocolate chips in 20 second intervals in the microwave. Stir in between each.
Step 5: Fill a piping bag or zip top bag with the melted chocolate and drizzle onto the dipped Oreos.
Step 6: Continue drizzling all the cookies with a zig zag motion.
Step 7: Before the dark chocolate sets, place the mini M&M's to create the Christmas lights. Enjoy!

Chocolate covered Oreos can be made up to 2 weeks in advance when stored in an airtight container at room temperature, or even longer in the refrigerator.
Chocolate covered Oreos typically take about 30 minutes to dry at room temperature. If you're in a hurry, you can speed up the process by placing them in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
Chocolate covered Oreos are generally safe to leave out overnight at room temperature, as long as they don't contain any perishable toppings and aren't exposed to excessive heat or humidity.
Storage and Reheating Instructions
Room Temperature: Arrange them in a single layer in an airtight container, making sure they aren't touching each other. If you do have to stack them, use parchment paper layered in between the layers. Store the container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or heat.
Refrigerator: Place them in an airtight container with a layer of parchment paper between each layer to prevent sticking.
Freezer: Flash freeze them on a baking sheet before transferring to an airtight container with parchment paper between layers. They can be stored in the freezer for up to 2 months
Thaw Tips: Allow the cookies to defrost overnight in the refrigerator. If you're in a hurry, leave the container of Oreos at room temperature for a couple of hours. Keep an eye on them to ensure the chocolate doesn't melt or become too soft.

Oreo Christmas Treats
Equipment
Ingredients
- 18 Oreo cookies
- 1 ½ cups white baking chips
- ½ cup dark chocolate chips
- 1.08 ounce package mini M&M's
Instructions
- Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
- Melt the white baking chips in the microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.
- Using a fork, place an Oreo in the melted white chocolate. Move the cookie around with the fork to ensure it is coated. Flip it to the other side and repeat. Pick the cookie up out of the chocolate with the fork and let it drip for a couple of seconds to remove excess chocolate. Set it on the parchment paper. Repeat with the remaining cookies.
- Let the cookies set for 15 to 20 minutes or until the white chocolate has hardened.
- Melt the dark chocolate chips in 20-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.
- Using a piping tool or spoon, drizzle the dark chocolate onto the white chocolate covered Oreos slowly to create lines.
- Add the mini M&M's onto the lines before the chocolate dries to form the Christmas lights.
Notes
- Use only the green and red M&M's for red and green lights, or use all of the colors for multicolored lights.
- Store the cookies either at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
- They can also be frozen for up to 2 months. Allow them to defrost in the refrigerator overnight.
