Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Place the Oreo cookies in a food processor and process them until you get fine crumbs.
Step 2: Combine the crushed Oreo cookies with the softened cream cheese.
Step 3: Roll out the dough into 1-inch sized balls. I like to use a small cookie scoop to make sure they're all the pretty much the same size.
Step 4: Melt the chocolate according to the directions below.
How to Melt Chocolate
- Begin by placing the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and place the bowl in the microwave using the low setting and starting out in 30 seconds intervals.
- Remove the bowl from the microwave and stir the chocolate. One of the biggest mistakes people make with using the microwave is, they forget to stir the chocolate after each interval. Chocolate pieces can retain their shape until you stir them.
- If you don't stir, you risk burning the chocolate.
- Return the chocolate back to the microwave and repeat with another 10 to 15 seconds until the chocolate is completely melted.
- In just a few minutes you'll have perfectly beautiful melted chocolate for dipping.
When melting the chocolate chips, don't let any water to come in contact. It will cause the chocolate to "seize" and you won't get the right consistency. If this happens, throw it out and start over.
Dip in Chocolate
Step 5: Using a fork, dip each truffle in the melted chocolate. Gently tap the fork on the bowl's edge to remove excess chocolate before placing the truffle on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Kitchen Tool Spotlight
If you're finding it difficult using a regular kitchen fork, try a candy dipping fork. The long, thin tines allow for easy dipping and ensure even coating, while the extended handle keeps your fingers clean.

Decorate Oreo Truffles
Step 6: While the chocolate coating is still wet, press pretzel pieces into the top for antlers. Then, attach candy eyes and a red M&M nose using a dab of melted chocolate as glue.
