📋Ingredients
What to put in Homemade Granola
- Add mini chocolate chips to the mixture after baking like I do with my Coconut Pecan Chocolate Chip Granola recipe.
- Or you can add dried fruit like cranberries or raisins. Sunflower seeds are also a great addition!
- If you love peanut butter, you'll really enjoy this Homemade Granola recipe!
- Or try this easy-to-make Easy Homemade Granola Recipe.
- Using a large mouth funnel will help you get the granola into the mason jar without making a mess.
Step-by-Step Directions
Step 1: In a large bowl, combine the oats, nuts and coconut.
Step 2: Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Stir gently until everything is just combined.
Step 3: First, line a large baking sheet with foil and spray it with nonstick spray (or use parchment paper). Then, spread the entire mixture evenly onto the prepared baking sheet.
Baking Instructions
Step 4: Start by baking the granola in a preheated 350°F oven for 10 minutes. Then, take the pan out, give the granola a good stir to ensure even browning, and return it to the oven for another 5 minutes. Repeat this process of taking the pan out, stirring, and baking for 5 minutes at a time until the granola reaches a beautiful golden brown color.
Step 5: After the granola has cooled down, you can add dried fruit, sunflower seeds, mini chocolate chips; whatever is your favorite! Allow to cool before packaging.
How to Package Granola for Gifts
The Mason jars will help keep the granola fresh much longer than a plastic container. Use a large mouth funnel to help get the granola into the mason jar without making a mess.
Wait for the baked granola to cool completely before storing! Fill the mason jars up with the granola. Add the lid with ring and seal tightly. Decorate the jars with raffia and the printable gift tags.

Serving Tips
Serve homemade granola on top of yogurt mixed with fruit. Add to the top of a whole grain cracker spread with peanut butter. You can even sprinkle some to the top of ice cream!
🍶 How long does Homemade Granola Last?
Homemade granola typically lasts for 2-4 weeks at room temperature when stored properly in an airtight container.
Freezing Tips
If you want to extend its shelf life, you can freeze it for up to 3 months or even up to 6 months.
Freezing homemade granola helps maintain its freshness and preserves its flavors.
When ready to use, simply thaw it at room temperature or enjoy it straight from the freezer.
Top Tip
Make sure you allow the granola to cool completely before adding it to the mason jars.
If you don't want to use mason jars, you could use cellophane gift bags. Just keep in mind that the granola will not stay as fresh as it will in the mason jar.
If you want to keep the granola for your family, you can store it in an air-tight plastic container either in the pantry or refrigerator.
