Homemade Granola makes the perfect last-minute gift for Christmas for teachers, family and friends.

Homemade Granola

Do you need a last minute gift idea for Christmas? Today I’m sharing with you an easy and delicious recipe for Homemade Granola that you can give as gifts this week for Christmas.

And yes, there’s plenty of time to put these cute mason jars together and deliver to your neighbors and friends.

Homemade granola makes a great gift that your friends and family will enjoy as a snack or over yogurt for breakfast.  One of my favorite ways to enjoy this delicious recipe is to spread a little peanut butter on a whole grain cracker or rice cake and then add a spoonful of granola on top.

It’s a great breakfast or mid-afternoon snack that I know you’ll enjoy.

How to Make Homemade Granola

Dry Ingredients

  • 3 cups oats
  • 1/2 cup nuts
  • 1/2 cup coconut
  • mini chocolate chips, dried fruit, sunflower seeds

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/6 cup water (which is 2 TBS plus 2 tsps.)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

  • In a small bowl, combine the wet ingredients and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine the oats, nuts and coconut.
  • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir to combine.
  • Place the entire mixture on a large baking sheet that has been lined with foil and sprayed or you can use parchment paper.

Spread homemade granola on baking pan that has been lined with parchment paper.

  • Bake in a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes.
  • Remove the pan from the oven and stir the granola. Then return the pan to the oven and bake for another 5 minutes. Take the pan out and stir again.
  • You will keep doing this until the granola is nice and brown. Set your timer! Because, you could forget and end up with a huge mess on your hands.
  • After the granola has cooled down, you can add dried fruit, sunflower seeds, mini chocolate chips; whatever is your favorite!
  • Store in an air-tight container for up to 2 weeks.

How to Give Homemade Granola as a Gift

Here’s where the fun begins!

  • Mason jars are the perfect container to use to package granola.
  • The mason jars will help keep the granola fresh much longer than a plastic container.
  • Fill the mason jars up with the granola.
  • Add the lid with ring and seal tightly.
  • Decorate the jars with raffia and handwritten tags.
