Everyone's favorite spinach dip is the star of this Spinach Artichoke Puff Pastry Tree.
Rolled up in buttery puff pastry, sliced and placed in the shape of a Christmas tree, this Puff Pastry Recipe is festive in shape and in flavor! It will be the highlight of your holiday buffet table for any gathering.
This recipe is a little different than my other Christmas tree shaped recipes. It's a different way to use puff pastry and create a tree shape. You can easily shape this Spinach Artichoke Puff Pastry Tree ahead of time and refrigerate until right before you want to serve it.
The fun part of puff pastry Christmas tree appetizers is bringing it to the table and having your family pull the tree apart. Which is just what you do with this recipe too!
Christmas Tree Appetizer

- Puff pastry - remove the puff pastry from the freezer about an hour before you want to prepare this recipe.
- Frozen spinach - thawed and squeezed dry.
- Can of quartered artichoke hearts
- Cream cheese - room temperature so it's easy to blend.
- Shredded cheese - I used a fiesta blend
- Egg - this will give the pastry that lovely color and shine.
- Garlic powder
- Salt
- Pepper
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 | Combine the Ingredients for the Dip
- Drain and chop the artichoke hearts and add them to a bowl.
- Add the chopped spinach, shredded cheese, cream cheese, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
- Make sure to mix the ingredients well.
Step 2 | Roll out Puff Pastry
- Place the puff pastry on a piece of parchment paper and using a rolling pin, lightly press out the folds.
- Next, spread the spinach artichoke dip mixture evenly all over the puff pastry sheet.
- Beginning at one end, roll the sheet up into a cylinder.
- Slice the cylinder into ¼ inch sized rolls.
- Place each roll on the baking sheet in the shape of a Christmas tree.
Step 3 | Baking Instructions
- In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush it all over the surface of the Christmas tree. Make sure all areas are covered.
- Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 25 - 28 minutes or until it is golden brown.
- Remove it from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Step 4 | Serving Tips
- If you don't have a serving platter large enough to hold the Christmas Tree, use a regular baking tray that you cover with fresh parchment paper.
- All your guests need to do is pull a branch circle off and enjoy!

Puff Pastry Storage Tips

- Bake puff pastry does not stand up to freezing.
Top Recipe Tip
Make sure all the excess water is removed from the defrosted chopped spinach or it will make the dip runny.

Spinach Artichoke Puff Pastry Tree
Ingredients
- 1 sheet of puff pastry; thawed
- 6 oz. frozen spinach; thawed and squeezed dry
- 1 - 13.75 ounce size can of quartered artichoke hearts

- chopped red pepper to garnish; optional
