What are crescent rolls?
Crescent rolls are a type of rolled pastry that is typically made with a yeast-based dough. The dough is rolled into a crescent shape and then baked until it is golden brown.
They can be served as a side dish or used as an ingredient in other recipes; like we're doing with these Blueberry Turnovers!
Crescent rolls are an excellent way to add a touch of elegance to any meal. Whether you're serving them as an appetizer or a side dish, their fun shape is sure to impress your guests.
How to open crescent rolls?
When opening a tube of any refrigerator dough, it is important to first check the expiration date to ensure that the rolls are still fresh. If the expiration date has passed, the rolls may not rise properly or may be overly crusty.
To open the rolls, start by carefully peeling back the paper wrapper. Next, use a sharp knife to cut along the seam that runs along the edge of the roll. Once the seam has been cut, you should be able to easily pull apart the two halves of the roll.
You can then separate each half into smaller pieces. When cutting crescent rolls, it is important to use a sharp knife so that you do not squish or tear the delicate dough.
How long to bake crescent rolls?
If you are baking them straight from the tube, bake them in a preheated 375°F oven for about 11 minutes or until golden brown.
Now if you're preparing a specific recipe that uses any refrigerator dough as a base, you need to follow the baking instructions detailed in the recipe.

Substitutions and Variations
- Change it up and use cherry pie filling in place of the blueberry pie filling.
- You can use almond extract in place of the lemon extract.
- You can add a tablespoon of cream cheese also to the base of the crescent roll before adding the pie filling on top.
- Or how about a piece of chocolate, chocolate chips or piece of your favorite candy bar? Yummy!
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Press the seams together and use a pastry roller to roll them out into one sheet of crescent roll dough approximately 8 inches wide by 12 inches long.
Step 2: Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the dough into 6 even squares of crescent roll dough. Place about 1 tablespoon of blueberry pie filling in the bottom corner of each dough square. Fold over to form a triangle and pinch the seams together using a fork.
Step 3: Place the triangles on a baking tray with parchment paper and brush with an egg white.
Step 4: Then sprinkle granulated sugar on top of each turnover.
Baking Instructions
Step 5: Bake for 12 - 14 minutes in a preheated 375°F oven or until golden brown.
Step 6: Allow the blueberry turnovers to cool before drizzling the glaze on top.
Serving Tips
Serve them warm, preferably with a scoop of ice cream or some whipped cream on top. I like to dust them with a little powdered sugar. Enjoy!

I’m giving it 5 stars bc they sound amazing, I haven’t made them yet though. I was wondering if you could use different kinds of pie filling and not just blueberry? I love most pie fillings, but blueberry is my favorite and I’d just like to try different flavors.
