✔️ DO use almond bark or candy melts for the smoothest coating and fastest setting.
❌ DO NOT let even a drop of water get into the chocolate while melting—it will cause the chocolate to seize and turn grainy.
Recipe FAQ's
To view the answers, simply click on the down arrow (⬇) next to each question. If you have any other questions not answered here, please leave a comment!
Almond bark is my favorite for coating pretzels because it melts smoothly, coats evenly, and sets quickly without any fuss. Candy melts are another easy option, while regular chocolate chips may need a little shortening or coconut oil added to achieve the same smooth consistency.
The best way to melt chocolate for chocolate-covered pretzels is in the microwave using short intervals—heat for 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between until smooth. You can also use a double boiler on the stovetop for more control, which helps prevent scorching.
Storage & Serving Tips
Refrigerate: Store in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
Freezer: Freezing is not recommended as the coating can crack or become sticky when thawed.
Serving Tips: Arrange on a festive platter or package in treat bags for Halloween parties, school events, or gift-giving. For even more spooky fun, pair them with activities from my Halloween Placemat Activity Bundle
