Why Kids Will Love Making These Easter Mason Jar Treats
Holidays always brought a lot of excitement to our house. My kids knew Easter meant time off from school and a day spent celebrating with their cousins.
One way I kept that excitement from turning into chaos was giving them a fun activity to do before everyone arrived. Making Easter treats together a few days ahead of the celebration became a simple tradition that kept little hands busy.
These mason jar treats are easy for kids to help assemble. They can scoop and pour the candy into the jars, and using a wide mouth funnel helps keep everything from spilling all over the counter.
Once the jars are filled, they make adorable favors to place on the table for each guest. Not only do they look festive, but they also bring a smile to everyone who sits down to celebrate.

Substitutions and Variations
- This is an easy recipe/craft to make your own simply by swapping out the candy I used for a different flavor.
- If you are giving these to young children, make sure they don't have any food allergies. It's best to check with teachers if you are planning on using this as a gift for school.
- Mason jars are pretty durable, but if you're giving these to a number of children and are worried, you can always use a fun plastic container and decorate it.
- If you prefer to do something healthier, try chex mix, nuts or even a homemade snack mix.

Insider Tips from My Kitchen to Yours
✔️ DO use a wide mouth funnel when adding the candy to the mason jars so kids can easily pour the treats without making a big mess on the counter.
❌ DO NOT overfill the jars with candy or the lid may not seal properly and the jars will be harder to decorate with ribbon or gift tags.

Storage Tips
- Storing a mason jar filled with candy is a little different than store a mason jar filled with hot cocoa mix.
- You need to make sure the mason jar is stored in a cool and dry place; away from direct light so the candy doesn't start to melt.
- When food items are stored in mason jars, there is the possibility of condensation building up in the jar. A pantry or cupboard are best.
- Keep the lid on tight so the air doesn't spoil the candy inside either.
