Recipe Notes
If you don't want to use the lemon lime soda, try using filtered or boiled water...that's been cooled. This will prevent cloudy ice cubes.
Cut the fruit into small pieces which will help distribute the fruit evenly. It also looks better than having big chunks of strawberries.
Try different flavor combinations! Add your favorite herbs to the fruit as well. Try to layer the fruits and adding a layer of herbs before adding the liquid.
Allow the soda and fruit to freeze completely before using them in your drinks.
Can I use frozen fruit for ice cubes?
Yes, you can use frozen fruit although you'll want to let them defrost slightly to make it easier to handle and arrange in the ice cube trays.
How can I prevent my ice cubes from becoming cloudy?
If you use the lemon lime soda, you won't have this problem. But if you're using water, you'll want to either boil it first or you could use distilled water.

Substitutions and Variations
Swap out the blackberries and use blueberries for a fun patriotic look!
Try using other fruits. I love using lemon and lime slices. Orange slices, kiwi, watermelon cantaloup and even pineapple are great frozen.
Herbs like fresh rosemary, basil or thyme would be delicious when combined with fruit.
Instead of traditional plastic trays, try fun ice cube trays with different shapes like hearts, stars, or even animals.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Wash the fruit. Then slice the strawberries. Place both the strawberries and the blackberries in the ice cube trays.
Step 2: Gently pour the lemon-lime soda over the fruit in the ice cube tray, leaving a bit of space at the top to allow for expansion as it freezes. Pop the tray in the freezer for approximately 4 hours or until the cubes are solid. Once frozen, simply add a few cubes to your glass and top with your beverage of choice for a refreshing and flavorful treat.
