More No Bake Pudding Desserts
For this Oreo pudding dessert recipe you really do need to use the Cool Whip Topping and not homemade whipped cream. Homemade whipped cream won't hold up long.
Cool Whip Whipped Topping is firmer and will hold up better in the dessert. You can substitute a generic or even store-brand, but use the frozen whipped topping.

Main Ingredients Needed
This is an overview of the ingredients and instructions. Be sure to see the recipe card below for exact quantities, detailed instructions and special notes.
- Oreo Cookies
- Cream Cheese - make sure it's at room temperature so it blends easily.
- Powdered Sugar - white confectioner's sugar.
- Cool Whip Frozen Whipped Topping - store brand works great!
- Instant Chocolate Pudding Mix
- Milk - for desserts, I always try to use either whole milk or 2% milk.
- Chocolate Sauce

Step-by-Step Directions
Step 1 | Prepare the Cream Cheese Layer
In a large mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese and powdered sugar until completely blended. Stir in ½ cup coarsely chopped oreos. Fold in 1 ½ cups whipped topping.

Step 2 | Prepare the Chocolate Pudding Layer
- In another mixing bowl, beat together the pudding mix and milk for 5 minutes or until the pudding has thickened.
- Check the package label to see how long the pudding needs to set. Most instant pudding mixes take 5 minutes.

Step 3 | Build the Layers
- In a 9x13 casserole dish, place a layer of Oreo cookies.
- Spoon the cream cheese mixture in dollops over the cookies and press into an even layer.
- Spread the pudding over the cream cheese layer. Top with a layer of the remaining whipped topping.
- Place the remaining cookies in a zip top bag and crush. Sprinkle over the whipped topping layer.

Step 4 | Chill and Refrigerate
- Cover and return the dish to the refrigerator to store overnight to allow the cookies to soften.
- Drizzle chocolate over the crushed cookies before serving.

Step 5 | Serving Tips
- When serving this dessert, make slices and serve it as a pie, not a pudding. That way you and your guests will see the delicious layers!
- Don't forget to drizzle chocolate syrup on top!
