Step-by-Step Instructions
This section includes step-by-step photos and instructions to guide you through the recipe. For the complete printable version, scroll down to the recipe card below.

Step 1: Crush the Oreo cookies. Mix with softened cream cheese and peppermint extract until combined.

Step 2: The mixture may start out crumbly, but will become smooth and easy to scoop once fully combined.

Step 3: Scoop into balls using a small cookie scoop, place on a parchment-lined baking sheet, and chill in the refrigerator or freezer for 30 minutes.

Step 4: Melt the candy melts according to the package directions. I like to use the microwave.

Step 5: Stir in the paramount crystals which will help thin out the chocolate and make it smooth. Dip one cookie ball at a time and make sure it is completely covered with chocolate.

Step 6: Use a fork to gently tap the excess chocolate off before removing the cookie balls onto a parchment lined baking sheet.

Step 7: Immediately decorate the Oreo truffles with the crushed peppermint candies. If you wait too long, the candies will not stick. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Insider Tips from My Kitchen to Yours
✔️ DO stir in a small amount of paramount crystals when melting the chocolate to help thin it out and create a smooth, easy-to-dip consistency.
❌ DO NOT skip thinning the chocolate or overheat it, as thick or overheated chocolate can make coating the truffles difficult and uneven.

Storing & Serving Tips
Refrigerate: Store the truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep them fresh and firm.
Freezer: Freeze uncoated truffles in a freezer-safe container, then thaw and dip in chocolate before serving.
Serving Tips: Let truffles sit at room temperature for a few minutes before serving so the chocolate coating softens slightly.

Peppermint Oreo Truffles for Christmas
Ingredients
Equipment
Method
- Crush the Oreo cookies into a fine crumb using either a food processor or by placing the cookies in a plastic bag and crushing with a rolling pin.
- Combine the cookie crumbs with the softened cream cheese. Stir in the peppermint extract if you want.
- Using a small cookie scoop, scoop the cookie crumb/cream cheese mixture into round balls and place on a tray.
- Place the Oreo truffles in the freezer for about 30 minutes before dipping in the melted chocolate.
- In a microwave-proof bowl, melt the candy melts according to the package directions.
- Add the paramount crystals and stir until dissolved. This will thin out the chocolate so that it goes farther.
- Drop the cookie balls, one at a time, into the melted chocolate. Use a spoon to move the ball around a bit making sure it's completely covered in the melted chocolate. Scoop the ball out and set on the tray.
- Before the chocolate begins to set or harden, sprinkled the crushed peppermint candies on top.
- Allow the cookie balls to set completely before serving.

Notes
Tips:
- Use the whole Oreo cookie, including the cream filling, for the best texture and flavor.
- Chill the cookie balls in the freezer for at least 30 minutes before dipping so they stay firm and don’t fall apart in the warm chocolate.
- Make sure the chocolate is smooth and easy to dip for an even coating.
Storage and Make Ahead
- Store finished truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep them firm.
- The cookie balls can be made ahead and refrigerated or frozen, then dipped in melted chocolate the next day.
- For best results, wait to dip the truffles until just before serving or gifting.

Karen E. Otstot says
I have bags of Oreo crumbs, do you have any idea how many ounces of crumbs 36 cookies would make? Or how many cups of crumbs 36 cookies would make? Rhank you so much.
Lois says
Hello Karen! If you’re using pre-made Oreo crumbs, you’ll need about 3 to 3½ cups to equal the 36 whole Oreo cookies my recipe calls for. That’s roughly 14–15 ounces of crumbs, so measuring out about 3¼ cups will put you right on target for the truffles. I hope this works! Thank you for checking out the recipe!

These look delicious Lois ! Can’t wait to try them.
