Recipe Variations
- Try dipping the cookie balls in dark chocolate as well as white chocolate.
- Use Christmas colored sprinkles instead of the crushed peppermint candies.
- You could even use Oreo cookie crumbs as a topping or shredded coconut.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 | Combine the Ingredients
- Crush the Oreo cookies and then combine them with the softened cream cheese.
- Stir in the peppermint extract.
- Using a small cookie scoop, scoop the cookie/cream cheese mixture into balls and place on a parchment lined baking sheet.
- Place the baking sheet into the freezer or refrigerator to chill for 30 minutes.
Step 2 | Melt the Chocolate
- Melt the candy melts according to the package directions. I like to use the microwave.
- Stir in the paramount crystals which will help thin out the chocolate and make it smooth.
- Dip one cookie ball at a time and make sure it is completely covered with chocolate.
- Use a fork to gently tap the excess chocolate off before removing the cookie balls onto a parchment lined baking sheet.
Step 3 | Add the Crushed Peppermint Candies
- Immediately decorate the Oreo truffles with the crushed peppermint candies.
- If you wait too long, the candies won't stick.
- Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Storage Tips

- If properly stored, they should last 3 to 4 weeks.
Freezing Tips
- The Peppermint Oreo Truffles can be frozen in an airtight container for 3 months.
Top Recipe Tip
- Use the whole Oreo cookie! Do not separate the cream filling from the cookies.
- Make sure you place to cookie balls in the freezer for at least 30 minutes before dipping them in the melted chocolate. If you don't, the balls could fall apart when they are placed in the warm chocolate.
- You could even make the cookie balls ahead of time and dip them in the melted chocolate the next day.

- 8 ounces cream cheese; softened
- ¼ teaspoon peppermint extract; optional
- Crushed peppermint candies
- White Candy Melts
- Paramount Crystals
Instructions
- Crush the Oreo cookies into a fine crumb using either a food processor or by placing the cookies in a plastic bag and crushing with a rolling pin.
- Combine the cookie crumbs with the softened cream cheese. Stir in the peppermint extract if you want.
- Using a small cookie scoop, scoop the cookie crumb/cream cheese mixture into round balls and place on a tray.
- Place the Oreo truffles in the freezer for about 30 minutes before dipping in the melted chocolate.
- In a microwave-proof bowl, melt the candy melts according to the package directions.
- Add the paramount crystals and stir until dissolved. This will thin out the chocolate so that it goes farther.
- Drop the cookie balls, one at a time, into the melted chocolate. Use a spoon to move the ball around a bit making sure it's completely covered in the melted chocolate. Scoop the ball out and set on the tray.
- Before the chocolate begins to set or harden, sprinkled the crushed peppermint candies on top.
- Allow the cookie balls to set completely before serving.
Notes
- Paramount crystals help make the coatings smooth and easier to pour into molds and also help to thin out coatings for ease in dipping and coating.
- Store the Peppermint Oreo Truffles in a plastic container in the refrigerator.
