What do I do if my cookie dough is too sticky?
If the cookie dough is too moist and sticky, gradually add a little all-purpose flour. This will help the dough firm up and make it easier to handle.
Melon Baller vs Cookie Scoop?
A melon baller is a versatile tool for shaping and scooping small portions of fruits like melons. It can also work well for smaller sized cookies, allowing you to scoop the dough into consistent portions.
A cookie scoop is designed for scooping cookie dough in various sizes, making it easy to create evenly-sized cookies. It has a mechanism for releasing dough smoothly onto the baking sheet, ensuring consistent shape and size.
Both tools can be useful, but if you prefer uniformity and efficiency, a cookie scoop may be the better choice. It simplifies the process of scooping and portioning cookie dough, resulting in more evenly baked cookies. However, if you don't have a cookie scoop, a melon baller can still do the job, especially for smaller or bite-sized cookies.

- Make sure the cookies have completely cooled down prior to storing them.

🔁 Thawing Tips
- To enjoy the frozen cookies, take them out of the freezer and let them defrost at room temperature.
- Try warming them up in the microwave for a few seconds! They'll taste great with a glass of cold milk.
➡️Top Recipe Tip
- Cake mix cookie dough tends to be sticky and soft due to the high moisture content in all cake mixes.
- If you find the batter too sticky, try adding a small amount of all-purpose flour to the mix.
- I also recommend using either parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to keep them from sticking to the baking sheet.
Is Dream Topping the same as Cool Whip?
Dream Topping and Cool Whip are similar in function as they are both whipped dessert toppings. However, there are differences between them. Cool Whip is a pre-whipped synthetic topping commonly used in the United States. On the other hand, Dream Topping is a UK version where you whip the powdered mix with milk.
Can I substitute the oil or butter in the cake mix recipe for something else?
- Replace the oil or butter with an equal amount of unsweetened applesauce. This substitution works well in recipes that call for vegetable oil and adds moisture to the cake.
- You can also substitute the oil with an equal amount of buttermilk. This can add moisture and a subtle tang to the cake.
