How to Melt Chocolate
- Begin by placing the candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl and place the bowl in the microwave using the low setting and starting out in 30 seconds intervals.
- Remove the bowl from the microwave and stir the chocolate. One of the biggest mistakes people make with using the microwave is, they forget to stir the chocolate after each interval. Chocolate pieces can retain their shape until you stir them.
- If you don't stir, you risk burning the chocolate.
- Return the chocolate back to the microwave and repeat with another 10 to 15 seconds until the chocolate is completely melted.
- In just a few minutes you'll have perfectly beautiful melted chocolate for dipping.
Main Ingredients Needed
- Double Stuffed Oreo Cookies
- Chocolate Candy Melts
- Pretzel Sticks
- Twist Pretzels
- Candy Eyes
- Red M&Ms
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 | Melt the Chocolate
- Melt the chocolate candy pieces according to the directions on the bag of the package or follow my tips listed above.
- Set aside 6 candy melts to help make the reindeer noses.
- Dip one end of the lollipop stick in the melted chocolate and insert it into the center of an Oreo cookie. You want to push it about halfway into the cookie.
Step 2 | Add the Pretzels
- Dip the end of two pretzel sticks into the chocolate and insert them into the top of the Oreo cookie at a slight angle for each “antler”.
- Next, dip the end of each pretzel "ear" into the chocolate and insert them into the Oreo cookie on each side of the “antlers”.
- Wait a few minutes for the pretzels to dry or set into the Oreo cookies.
Step 3 | Dip the Cookies
- If you notice the chocolate needs to be reheated, warm it again in the microwave being careful not to burn the chocolate.
- Holding the Oreo pop by the lollypop stick, use a spoon to spoon melted chocolate over the face of the reindeer and then gently cover the ears in chocolate. Allow the excess chocolate to drain off and then place the reindeer pop on the wax paper.
- Place one of the reserved chocolate melts in the center of the Oreo for the nose. Add a bit of melted to chocolate to the M side of a red M&M and place it in the center of the candy melt nose. Add two candy eyes above the nose.
Step 4 | Wrap the Reindeer Treats
- Allow chocolate to dry before wrapping Oreo Reindeer Treats on a stick in treat bags.
- Tie the bags with a pretty ribbon and add a gift tag.

Recipe Variations
- Mini M&Ms - swap out the traditional sized M&Ms for the mini ones.
- Red Hots - you could use candy red hots in place of the M&Ms as well.
Storage Tips
- Store the reindeer treats recipe in an air-tight container.
- They will last for up to two weeks.
- These ingredients don't stand up well to freezing.
Top Recipe Tip
Use Double Stuffed Oreo Cookies. The extra thickness of the cookie makes it easier to insert the cookie stick.
