What chocolate to use for chocolate covered pretzels?
For the best results, you'll want to use a high quality chocolate that's not too sweet. Dark chocolate is a good choice, but you could also use milk or white chocolate.
If you're using milk or white chocolate, you might want to add a little bit of shortening to help the chocolate flow more easily. I like to use almond bark or candy melts for dipping pretzels, fruit or cookies like I do with my Shortbread Cookies.

Step 1: Melt the chocolate as directed on the package. For easier dipping, transfer the melted chocolate to a tall glass.
Step 2: Take each pretzel rod and gently dip it into the melted chocolate, submerging about half of its length. If needed, tilt the glass slightly.

Step 3: Place the pretzels on parchment paper and decorate immediately with your favorite toppings. Try Christmas sprinkles, candies, or a drizzle of melted chocolate!

Tips for Making Chocolate Covered Pretzels
- It's really important that you use a sturdy pretzel, which is why I recommend Utz Pretzels.
- I like to use chocolate and white chocolate almond bark, but you can substitute chocolate chip morsels or candy melts.
- Over the years I've purchased a few squeeze bottles to put the melted chocolate in. They help give the perfect drizzle effect!
- Make sure you let the pretzels harden completely on parchment paper. Don't try to use aluminum foil, the pretzels will stick.
- Store in airtight containers before packaging up for friends and family.

Room Temperature: Chocolate Covered Pretzels can last for up to two weeks if they are stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
Refrigerator: I do not recommend storing them in the refrigerator.

Chocolate Covered Pretzels
Ingredients
- 18 pretzel rods
- 10 ounces chocolate melting wafers
- 10 ounces white chocolate melting wafers
- assorted Christmas sprinkles of your choice
- 6 peppermint candies finely chopped
- 8 Andes Mint Chocolates finely chopped
- assorted cookie icing in the tube
Method
- In a microwave safe bowl, melt the wafers according to package directions, being very careful not to overheat the candy.
- Pour the melted chocolate into a tall skinny glass for dipping the pretzels into. One glass for chocolate and one glass for white chocolate.
- Dip each pretzel rod into the melted chocolate about half the length of the rod. Coat each rod in sprinkles and chopped toppings.
- Lay on parchment paper to allow time for the chocolate to set.
- Repeat with remaining pretzel rods.
- Once chocolate has set, add lines using cookie icing to as many of the rods as you would like.
- Let the pretzel rods dry completely before packaging or serving.
