Why is the bottom of my pizza soggy in the air fryer?
The bottom of your pizza may be turning out soggy in the air fryer due to a few potential reasons. Here are some factors to consider:
- Moisture Content: If the toppings or sauce on the pizza have a high moisture content, it can lead to sogginess. Try using pre-cooked or drained ingredients to reduce excess moisture.
- Air Circulation: Insufficient air circulation within the air fryer can result in uneven cooking, leading to a soggy bottom. Ensure that the air fryer basket isn't overcrowded, allowing hot air to circulate around the pizza evenly.
- Preheating: Preheating the air fryer before placing the pizza inside can help create a more consistent cooking environment and reduce the likelihood of a soggy bottom.
Can you put aluminum foil in an air fryer?
Yes, you can put aluminum foil in an air fryer. However, there are some important considerations to keep in mind. Ensure proper placement of the foil to allow for adequate air circulation. Avoid completely covering the basket or blocking the air vents, as this can disrupt the cooking process. Additionally, if you're using foil to line the air fryer basket or wrap food items, it's advisable to perforate the foil to allow air to flow through and ensure even cooking.

Substitutions and Variations
- If you don't have English muffins on hand, you can use bagels instead.
- Use your favorite toppings like ground beef, bacon, onions, and mushrooms!
🥣Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Add sauce to English muffins that have been sliced in half.
Step 2: Then add shredded mozzarella cheese.
Step 3: Add chopped bell peppers.
Step 4: Finally top the pizzas with mini pepperoni.
Top Tip
I really wanted to use mini pepperoni slices for this recipe, but had a hard time finding them in the grocery store. Instead, I improvised by utilizing regular-sized pepperoni slices and cutting them into smaller circles using a round-shaped decorating tip.
⏲Air Baking Instructions
Step 5: Place the pizzas in the air fryer and bake at 400°F for 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.
Step 6: Around halfway through cooking, remove the air fryer basket and inspect the progress to ensure even cooking. I noticed that some pepperoni were sliding off the pizzas, so I promptly made adjustments.

❄️Freezing Tips
Allow the English muffin pizzas to cool completely before wrapping each pizza individually in plastic wrap. This will help prevent freezer burn and maintain the quality of the pizzas during freezing.
Once wrapped, place the individual pizzas in a freezer safe zip top bag or airtight container and freeze for up to 3 months.
Reheating Tips
To reheat the pizzas, preheat the air fryer to around 350-400°F. Place the English muffin pizzas in the air fryer basket and reheat them for 3-5 minutes or until heated through. Keep an eye on them to prevent overcooking.
