Recipe Substitutions
Instead of drizzling melted white chocolate on top, try sprinkling crushed nuts, coconut flakes, or drizzled caramel sauce on top of the strawberries.
Use sugar-free chocolate for a lower-sugar version.
Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Gently pull off the strawberry stems without cutting them. Slice the strawberries in half and lay them flat, placing the pointed ends together to form a heart. Secure with a toothpick, keeping it partially inserted for easy dipping. Assembling multiple hearts takes just minutes.

Step 2: Melt a few squares of almond bark following the package instructions—I prefer using the microwave with the tips mentioned earlier. Ensure strawberries are completely dry by patting them with a paper towel before dipping. Fully coat each strawberry in melted chocolate, shaping them into hearts as you dip. Place on wax paper to set, then trim any excess chocolate once dried.
Step 3: Decorate the Strawberry Hearts

Step 3: Melt 2 to 4 squares of white chocolate almond bark as directed. Transfer to a drizzle bottle and squeeze over the chocolate hearts.

Top Recipe Tips
- Just before dipping the strawberries wipe them off with a paper towel to make sure they're as dry as can be. Melted chocolate and water do not mix well at all.
- Make sure you leave some of the toothpicks sticking out of the strawberries to create a handle that will help you when dipping them in the chocolate.
- Lay the freshly dipped strawberries on waxed paper or parchment baking sheets so they can easily be removed to a serving tray.

Chocolate-covered strawberries are best enjoyed the same day they are made for the freshest taste and texture. However, if needed, they can be made up to 24 hours in advance and stored in the refrigerator in a single layer on parchment paper. After that, the strawberries may start to release moisture, causing the chocolate to sweat and the fruit to soften. For the best results, prepare them as close to serving time as possible.
Chocolate-covered strawberries sweat due to condensation forming when they move from a cold environment to a warmer one. To minimize this, avoid refrigeration if possible, store them in an airtight container with paper towels, and let them sit at room temperature before serving.
Storage and Reheating Instructions
Refrigerator: Once the chocolate sets, store chocolate-covered strawberries at room temperature on a parchment-lined tray or container. Lightly cover with parchment if needed. Refrigeration may cause condensation on the surface.
Freezer: Chocolate covered strawberries should not be frozen.

Chocolate Covered Heart Shaped Strawberries
Ingredients
Equipment
Method
- Take the stem off of the strawberries, don’t cut the stem, just pull it off.
- Cut the strawberries in half and lay them flat on a cutting board. Place them together with the pointy bottoms touching.
- Secure them with a toothpick and you have a heart.
- Try not to put the toothpick all the way through so you have something to hold on to while you dip the strawberries in the chocolate.
- Melt the chocolate almond bark in the microwave according to the instructions on back of the package.
- Holding one end of the toothpick, carefully dip the strawberries in the melted chocolate, trying to get the whole strawberry covered.
- Once they’re dipped, they begin to look like hearts.
- Set them on a piece of wax paper to dry completely; about an hour or so.
- After they’ve dried, you may need to trim some of the melted chocolate away.
- After the strawberries have dried completely, melt the white chocolate and drizzle on top of the hearts.
- Refrigerate until ready to serve.
