Homemade Donut Tips
- Even though the silicone donut pan is non-stick, you should still lightly grease it with non-stick cooking spray or melted butter. This will help ensure easy release of the donuts after baking.
- Pour the batter into each donut cavity, filling them about ⅔ full. This ensures that the donuts rise without overflowing.
- For better stability and even heat distribution, place the silicone donut pan on a baking sheet before putting it in the oven.
- Silicone pans can sometimes cook faster than traditional donut pans, so keep an eye on the donuts while they bake. You may need to reduce the baking time or lower the oven temperature slightly.

How to remove Baked Donuts from Donut Pan
- Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for a few minutes after they come out of the oven. This helps them set and firm up slightly.
- Gently run a butter knife or a small offset spatula around the edges of each donut, separating them from the sides of the pan.
- Most of the time the donuts will come right out of the pan after you loosened the edges.
- If not, place a wire cooling rack or a clean cutting board on top of the donut pan. Hold both the pan and the rack/board firmly together, then flip them over. The donuts should release onto the rack/board.
- Tap the bottom of the pan gently while holding it upside down. You can also give the pan a slight wiggle to help loosen the donuts.
Glazed Pumpkin Donuts
Step 7: Allow the donuts to cool completely on the rack or cutting board before glazing or icing them. This helps retain their shape and prevents the glaze from melting too quickly.

Storing and Thawing Tips
Refrigerator: You can store homemade donuts in an airtight container, or a Ziplock bag, or wrap them tightly with aluminum foil. This way, you can keep them fresh and prevent them from getting stale. Stored this way they should stay fresh for up to 5 days.
Freezer: Make sure the cake mix donuts are completely cooled down. Wrap each donut individually in plastic wrap or place them in separate freezer bags. Once wrapped, place the wrapped donuts in airtight containers or freezer-safe bags. Label them with the date for easy identification.
Thawing Tips: Simply place the donuts on a plate and let them sit at room temperature for about 1-2 hours, or until completely thawed. Cover them loosely with a paper towel to prevent them from drying out.

- When baking homemade donuts in a silicone baking pan, it's important to let them cool in the pan for a few minutes before trying to remove them.
- This allows the donuts to set and firm up a bit, making it easier to release them from the pan without breaking them.

You can use a standard muffin pan to bake donut-shaped muffins. Simply fill the muffin cups about two-thirds full with the donut batter and bake them as you would regular muffins. After they are baked and cooled, you can glaze or decorate them like donuts.
It's generally not necessary to spray silicone donut molds with cooking spray or grease them before baking, however, it will make everything easier if you do!
