Main Ingredients Needed
Here's a quick overview of the ingredients for this recipe. Find the exact amounts and click the Instacart button to easily add them to your cart – all in the printable recipe card below!
- Grapes
- Orange Slices
- Basil Leaves
- Water
Quick Tip: Always use cold water when infusing with fruits and vegetables. Do not use hot water. Hot water makes the vegetables and fruit fall apart and it can alter the taste. It might even cook the fruits, vegetables and herbs.
Step-by-Step Directions
Step 1 | Prep the Fruit
- Slice the grapes in half.
- Then slice the oranges. It's okay to leave the rind on if you want.
- Place the grapes, orange slices and chopped basil in a glass pitcher.
Step 2 | Add the Ice Cubes
Adding ice cubes will help ensure that the fruit and herbs stay cold while they infuse together.
Step 3 | Add the Water
Always use cold water when infusing fruits and herbs.
Step 4 | Serving Tips
- One of my favorite ways to serve infused drinks is to use mason jars.
- Garnish the glasses with extra orange slices and a few sprigs of fresh basil.

Variations
- Mint - swap out the fresh basil for fresh mint.
- Green Grapes - add green grapes along with the red grapes or a combination of both!
- See this Citrus Flavored Water Recipe on my website!
Storage
Store the water in the refrigerator for up to three days. You should remove the fruits and basil leaves after 24 hours so they don't leave the water bitter.
Try freezing the leftover water in ice cube trays. Add pieces of fresh basil for added flavor to your ice cubes.
Top Tips
- Wash the vegetables and fruit to remove any chemicals from pesticides that were used in growing. Again, make sure you wash in cold water.
- If you keep the rinds on the oranges, after four hours they can make the water taste bitter.
- Slice softer fruits, like the grapes, thick, while harder fruits, like the oranges, should be sliced very thin.
