Substitutions and Variations
Pepperoni: Add sliced pepperoni before rolling up the dough for a pizza-style version like I do with my Pepperoni Crescent Rolls recipe.
Cheese Sticks: Use half a cheese stick in each roll instead of shredded cheese for a stuffed center.
Italian Sausage: Add cooked, crumbled Italian sausage before rolling for a heartier option.
Butter: You can use homemade garlic butter or a store-bought version for convenience.
Step-by-Step Instructions
This section includes step-by-step photos and instructions to guide you through the recipe. For the complete printable version, scroll down to the recipe card below.

Step 1: Unroll the crescent dough and separate into individual triangles. Brush each triangle with the homemade garlic butter, sprinkle generously with mozzarella cheese, then starting at the wide end, roll up each crescent and tuck the ends underneath to seal.

Step 2: Microwave the remaining garlic butter for a few seconds until melted. Then, brush the melted garlic butter onto the top of each crescent roll.

Step 3: Place in a preheated 375°F oven and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until they turn a golden brown. Serve promptly while still warm for the best taste.
Insider Tips from My Kitchen to Yours
✔️ DO seal the edges of the dough well after adding the cheese to keep it from leaking out while baking.
❌ DO NOT skip preheating the oven, as the rolls won’t bake evenly or rise properly.

Storage Tips
Refrigerator: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Reheating: You can easily reheat any leftovers in the microwave.
Freezer: These ingredients don't stand up well to freezing; which is really okay, because I guarantee you will not have any leftovers.

Crescent rolls are made with a soft yeast dough, while croissants are made with a layered, buttery pastry. Crescent rolls are quicker and easier to use, which makes them perfect for simple recipes like this one.
Most Pillsbury crescent rolls bake at 375°F for 11 to 13 minutes, or until golden brown. Always check the package directions, as bake times can vary slightly depending on the brand and oven. Keep an eye on them toward the end so they don’t overbake.
