Best Apple Pie Filling
While there are many apple pie fillings on the market, not all of them are created equal. For the best results, you should look for a filling that is made with real apples.
Many commercially-available fillings use artificial flavors and colors, which can ruin the flavor of your pie. In addition, you should choose a filling that is thick enough to hold its shape when baked.
Thinner fillings are more likely to turn into mush during baking, resulting in an unappealing pie. With these guidelines in mind, you can choose the perfect filling for your next apple pie.

Insider Tips from My Kitchen to Yours
Want to make this recipe even better? Don’t miss my favorite tips below for boosting flavor, perfecting texture, and saving time in the kitchen!
✔️ DO press the cinnamon rolls firmly into the muffin cups to create enough space for the apple pie filling.
❌ DO NOT grease the muffin tin too heavily, or the dough may slide down and lose its cup shape while baking.
Storing, Freezing, and Reheating Tips
Refrigerate: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for a few days, though they’re best enjoyed fresh.
Freezer: Freezing isn’t recommended as the dough and apple filling can turn soggy after thawing.
Thaw and Reheat: Warm in a 350°F oven for 10–15 minutes or microwave for 15–20 seconds. Add butter, milk, or water before reheating for extra moisture.

Can I use fresh apples for this dish, if yes, what is the best way to prepare the apples for the filling
Lois says
You could chop the apples and add cinnamon/sugar to them before adding them to the muffin tin. I've never tried this recipe that way, but I think it could work.
