Tips for Building the Ultimate Layered Parfait
Make sure the cream cheese is at room temperature so it blends easily with the other ingredients.
I chose to use a store-bought angel food cake for this recipe, but you can easily make one using a cake mix or try this Homemade Angel Food Cake recipe.
When adding the cream cheese mixture, you can either spoon it into the cups or use a pastry bag for a prettier presentation.
Be sure to tap the glass gently on the counter after each layer to help it settle.
If you're serving these for a party, use mason jars or dessert cups to create individual servings of the parfait. This also makes it easy for guests to grab and go.
Can I use frozen berries in parfait?
Frozen berries are a great option because they're convenient and budget-friendly. They will also create a natural sauce as they thaw adding an extra layer of flavor to your dessert.
Allow the frozen berries to thaw slightly before using them, but drain any excess liquid. Try to place them on top of the angel food cake to avoid them bleeding into the whipped cream too much.

📋Ingredients
This is an overview of the ingredients and instructions. Be sure to see the recipe card below for exact quantities, detailed instructions and special notes.
Substitutions and Variations
Instead of the homemade strawberry cream cheese, try making this Raspberry Filling to add to the cream cheese for a different flavor.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, using the whisk attachment, blend the heavy cream with the powdered sugar on high speed until stiff peaks form. Remove all but ½ cup of the whipped cream and transfer to a smaller bowl and place in the refrigerator until ready to use.
Step 2: In a blender or food processor, puree two cups of strawberries until smooth. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any seeds, and set the strained strawberry liquid aside.
Step 3: Add the cream cheese to the mixing bowl with the remainder of the whipped cream. Mix on medium-high speed for 1 - 2 minutes. Add the granulated sugar and ½ cup of the strawberry liquid. Continue to mix until well blended.
Quick Tip
When making the strawberry cream cheese mixture, make sure the cream cheese is at room temperature so it blends smoothly and easily with the other ingredients.
Step 4: Break the angel food cake into small pieces. Slice the remainder of the strawberries. Place the angel food cake into the bottom of a glass followed by sliced strawberries. Try to stand them up on the outside of the glasses.
Step 5: Then place the strawberry cream cheese in the middle of the cup.
Step 6: Add another layer of cake followed by a layer of whipped cream and then a layer of blueberries.
Step 7: Keep layering the strawberries, cream cheese mixture, and whipped cream until you fill each glass. Finish by topping each cup with an extra dollop of whipped cream.

Prep Ahead Tips
If you need to assemble the parfaits a few hours ahead of time, you can layer the ingredients in individual glasses or jars. Cover them tightly with plastic wrap or lids and store them in the refrigerator. The whipped cream might soften slightly, but it should still hold its shape.
Storage and Freezing Instructions
Refrigerate: It's best to consume the fruit parfaits within a few hours of putting them together. If you do have leftovers, you can cover them tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate, however, the whipped cream may soften and the berries will release some juice.
Freezer: I do not recommend freezing any leftovers.

Fruit Parfait Recipe with Whipped Cream
Equipment
Ingredients
- 8 ounce angel food cake or half of a full sized angel food cake.
- 3 cups strawberries
- 1 cup blueberries
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 8 ounce cream cheese; softened
Instructions
- Place two cups of strawberries into a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Strain the strawberry liquid through a sieve to remove any seeds. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl with the whisk attachment, add the heavy whipping cream along with the powdered sugar. Mix until stiff peaks form.
- Reserve about ½ cup of the whipped cream mixture. The rest can be stored in the refrigerator until ready to use.
- In the same mixing bowl with the ½ cup of whipped cream, add the cream cheese. Mix on medium-high speed for 2 minutes. Add the granulated sugar, and the strawberry puree. Mix for another 2 minutes or until blended.
- Break up the angel food cake into pieces and slice the remaining 1 cup of strawberries. You want the strawberries to be pretty thin as they're going to "cling" to the sides of the glasses.
- Place a layer of angel food cake on the bottom of each glass.
- Add the thinly sliced strawberries gently so they're appearing to cling to the inside of the glasses to create a decorative look.
- Spoon a little of the strawberry cream cheese mixture in the middle. Then add another layer of whipped cream followed by the blueberries.
- Repeat the layers again until the glasses are filled. Top each glass with extra whipped cream.
- Refrigerate until ready to serve.
