It's almost time for peach season! And with the arrival of fresh peaches in the grocery store and farmer's market, everyone automatically thinks of their favorite peach dessert, but they probably don't think they could make the same recipe using a can of peaches.
Did you know you can substitute canned peaches for most recipes that call for fresh?
Canned peaches are not only delicious, but they're easier to use than fresh peaches. I mean, they're already pre-cut, washed and pretty much ready to add to a recipe once you open the can.
Two of my favorite recipes included below are Peach Cobbler with Cake Mix and Peach Cobbler Rolls.
Baking with Canned Peaches
All canned fruit is packed at the height of freshness. There's no worry about buying peaches that maybe aren't ripe enough or sweet enough. Canned peaches are perfectly sweet and the texture is always good for baking.
Desserts to make with canned peaches include pies, cobblers, salsa and even lemonade. They're all delicious and you wouldn't know they were made with a simple can of peaches.
Top Tip
When baking with canned peaches, I like to select peaches canned in water or 100 percent fruit juice so there's no added sugar going into the recipe.
