Can you bake muffins in mason jars?
- Baking directly in mason jars is a risk since the glass could shatter at high oven temperatures. Be sure to select jars that are labeled heat-resistant.
- You can use the metal bands of mason jars as makeshift muffin tins to help hold the cupcake liners in place while baking.
What jars are safe for baking?
Glass jars labeled as heat-resistant or oven-safe are generally considered safe for baking. It's important to note that not all glass jars are designed for high-heat applications, so check the manufacturer's guidelines and product labeling.

Chocolate Chip Muffins Mix
Ingredients
For the Dry Mix:
- 2 ¾ cups flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 ¼ cups sugar
- 1 ½ cups chocolate chips
Prep Ingredients:
- ½ cup unsalted butter melted and cooled
- 3 large eggs
- ½ cup milk
- 3 teaspoons vanilla
Instructions
Dry Mix Instructions:
- Add the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt to a mixing bowl. Stir.
- Stir in the chocolate chips
- Store in a quart mason jar.
Baking Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 425°F.
- Add all the prep ingredients to a mixing bowl and mix until smooth.
- Add the dry mix and mix just until batter forms.
- Spray a muffin pan on the top and insides of each muffin mold. (Your muffins will overflow to create a beautiful muffin top, and you want to make sure that it will easily come off the pan.)
- Add a cupcake liner to each muffin mold.
- Evenly distribute the batter into each mold.
- Bake at 425°F for 7 minutes. Once the 7 minutes is complete, reduce the heat to 375°F for 10-15 minutes. Each oven varies, so check on them earlier than later!
- Check the middle of one of the muffins in the middle of the pan with a toothpick to make sure it comes out clean, which means the batter is fully cooked on the inside.
- Transfer to a cooling rack to cool for 10-15 minutes.
- Once cooled to the touch, enjoy!
