Use your favorite cake flavor to make this cake. A lemon cake mix would be great for Easter.
You could also use your favorite homemade cake recipe.
🥣Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: First, follow the directions on the back of the cake mix box to prepare the batter. Once your batter is ready, proceed to the next step.
Step 2: This is what the cake pan looks like before the batter is poured in. It has a fun design that will help us decorate
Top Tip
Don't have an egg shaped pan? Bake in a 9x13 pan and use a template made of parchment paper to cut out the egg shape.
Make sure the cake is completely cooled before cutting.
Step 3: Prepare your egg-shaped pan by greasing it thoroughly with baking spray. Then, pour the prepared batter into the pan.
Step 4: Let the cake cool completely. This will help prevent your decorations from melting or smearing.
Prepare the Frosting
Step 5: Divide the frosting into three separate bowls. Gradually add food coloring to each bowl, a little at a time, until you achieve your desired colors. Then, fit piping bags with star tips and fill them no more than ⅔ full to prevent messy overflows.
Decorate the Cake
Step 6: Prepare your piping bag by twisting the top closed or securing it with a rubber band or bag tie. Then, gently squeeze the bag while holding it in your palm, and pipe stars in your favorite design to transform your cake into a festive Easter egg!
Step 7: Store your decorated creation in the refrigerator until it's time to enjoy.

Freezing Tips
To freeze the decorated cake, place the cake in the freezer for about an hour to firm up the frosting. Once the frosting is firm, wrap the cake in plastic wrap then wrap in aluminum foil.
🔁 Thawing Tips
To defrost, remove the aluminum and plastic wrap so as to not mess up the frosting once it has defrosted.
Place in the fridge overnight for it to thaw. Set on the counter about an hour before serving to come to room temperature.
Top Tip
Transfer the cooled cake to the serving platter before you start decorating.
