Can you use Almond Bark for Chocolate Covered Oreos?
- Yes, you can absolutely use almond bark for chocolate-covered Oreos—and that’s exactly what I used for this recipe!
- Almond bark melts smoothly, sets up beautifully, and gives the cookies a nice, glossy finish.
- It’s also a great alternative to candy melts if you prefer a milder chocolate flavor or want something that’s easier to work with.
- Just be sure to melt it slowly using a double boiler or microwave in short bursts to avoid overheating.

How to Dip Cookies in Almond Bark
- Melt chocolate slowly: Use a double boiler or microwave in 15–20 second bursts, stirring between each interval to prevent burning.
- Add shortening or coconut oil: A small amount helps thin the chocolate and gives it a smooth, glossy finish.
- Avoid any contact with water: Even a tiny drop can cause the chocolate to seize and turn grainy.
- Use a fork or dipping tool: It helps lift cookies cleanly and lets extra chocolate drip off easily.
- Work fast when decorating: Press candy eggs on top while the chocolate is still wet so they stick firmly.
- Line your tray: Use parchment or wax paper to keep cookies from sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Chill to set: Refrigerate the tray for 10–15 minutes to help the chocolate firm up quickly.

Store the Oreo Christmas Cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for about 2 weeks. You don't need to refrigerate them unless it's the middle of summer and it's warm in your kitchen. You should not freeze them as the cold temperature from the freezer can change the way the chocolate looks when you defrost them.
I always use the microwave method to melt chocolate for dipping. But you can also use a double boiler to melt the chocolate.
Storage Instructions
Pantry: Store your finished cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
Freezer: You should not freeze them as the cold temperature from the freezer can change the way the chocolate looks when you defrost them.
