Why are Smores called Smores?
The name is a contraction of the phrase "some more." This name likely originated because these treats are so delicious that people often want "some more" after eating one.
The treat traditionally consists of a roasted marshmallow and a piece of chocolate sandwiched between two graham crackers.
We're not really sure who created the recipe. However, the first recorded recipe can be found in a 1927 Girl Scouts handbook, which is where the name is believed to have been popularized.

Prep Ahead Tips
These cups come together pretty quickly, but when you're hosting a party, it's always helpful to do a few steps ahead of time.
You can easily prepare the marshmallow skewers and store in a zip top bag or airtight container the day before until ready to assemble.
Wash and cut the fruit then place on a pick. Refrigerate for up to a day in an airtight container.
Storage Tips
If you have leftovers, remove the fruit picks and refrigerate them in an airtight container for a couple of days. The rest of the cup can be placed in an airtight container and stay at room temperature for about a week.
