How to make fruit pizza?
There are a few different ways you can make a fruit pizza for a special event or holiday. You can use a sugar cookie dough like I do with this recipe, and with my Flag Sugar Cookie Fruit Pizza.
Another delicious option is to use crescent rolls or crescent sheet dough. I used this refrigerator dough option with my Crescent Roll Fruit Tart recipe and my Crescent Roll Fruit Pizza.
Choose fresh fruit that is not watery. You could use watermelon, but add the watermelon to the pizza right before serving.
The same goes with apples and bananas. Not because they're watery, but because once the flesh of the fruit is exposed to the air, it will start to turn brown.

Recipe Substitutions and Variations
- I used an easy homemade cream cheese frosting recipe. If you wanted, you could even use a canned frosting.
- Use your favorite, but think of how the fruit and colors go together to create a colorful looking "Easter egg." Canned fruit would work but only if you drain the fruit really well.
- Add a little food coloring to tint the frosting a pastel color similar to how we dye Easter eggs.
- You could even use Nutella Hazelnut Spread! Yum!
- Or you might enjoy this mini fruit pizza recipe to serve year-round.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Remove the cookie dough from the package and mix ¼ cup flour into the cookie dough and roll out on a floured surface to ¼ inch thickness. Cut out Easter egg shapes with a cookie cutter, place on a parchment-lined baking sheet, and refrigerate for 30 minutes before baking.
Quick Tip
Once you have the egg shapes cut out and on the baking trays, place them in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This will help the cookies from spreading too much while they're baking. You don't want to lose that pretty egg shape!
Baking Instructions
Step 2: Bake the cookies 8 to 11 minutes or until lightly browned around the edges. Allow the egg-shaped cookies to cool completely before spreading the frosting on top.
Prepare the Cream Cheese Frosting
Step 3: In a bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.
Top Tip
Make sure the fruit is dry before adding it to the top of the cream cheese frosting when decorating your mini fruit pizza's. This will help the sugar cookies from getting soggy.
Fruit Pizza Decorating Ideas
Step 4: Once the cookies have cooled, frost them with the cream cheese frosting. Decorate each cookie with a colorful fruit arrangement and refrigerate until you're ready to enjoy!

How do you keep them from getting soggy?
To prevent fruit pizzas from getting soggy, it is important to keep them tightly covered once they are put together. Make sure the fruit is very dry before adding it to the top of the cream cheese frosting. If you can, try to put the pizzas together 30 minutes before serving to help keep the moisture away from the cookie dough base.
Does fruit pizza need to be refrigerated?
Any leftovers can be store in an airtight container or wrapped in plastic wrap and placed in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Although this recipe is best served the day it is put together.

Sugar Cookie Egg Fruit Pizza
Ingredients
- 1 roll of sugar cookie dough
- ¼ cup of flour
- 1 8 ounce block of cream cheese; softened
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- 1/ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- ¾ cup diced strawberries
- ¾ cup diced kiwi
- ¾ cup raspberries
- ¾ cup blueberries
Instructions
- Remove the cookie dough from the package and knead ¼ cup all-purpose flour into the dough. This will help make the dough easier to roll out.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the sugar cookie dough until ¼ inch thick.
- Use an Easter egg shaped cookie cutter to cut out cookie shapes.
- Place the cookie shapes onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Refrigerate the cookies for at least 30 minutes before baking. This will help them keep their shape.
- Bake the cookies 8 to 11 minutes or until lightly browned around the edges.
- Allow the egg-shaped cookies to cool completely before spreading the frosting on top.
- Using an electric mixer, mix the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar and vanilla in a bowl until smooth and creamy.
- Spread the cream cheese frosting on top of the cooled sugar cookies.
- Add the fruit across the cookie in a decorative pattern.
- Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Notes
- If you find the dough is still too sticky to roll out, try placing it between two pieces of parchment paper.
- Refrigerate the cut out cookies before baking for about 30 minutes. This will help them not to spread while baking. If you find the cookies have spread too much after they have baked, use the cookie cutter again.
- Make sure the cream cheese is soft before preparing the frosting.
- Make sure the fruit is completely dry before adding to the top of the frosting.
- If you are making these ahead, frost the cookies but wait to add theruiit until right before serving.
- Use any combination of fruit you like.
