Why won't my potatoes cook in the air fryer?
If your potatoes are not cooking properly in the air fryer, there could be a few reasons. Here are some potential factors to consider:
- Size and thickness: The size and thickness of the potato slices can affect cooking time. If the potatoes are cut too thick, they may take longer to cook or remain undercooked in the center. Try cutting them into smaller, evenly-sized pieces for more consistent cooking.
- Overcrowding: Overcrowding the air fryer basket can lead to uneven cooking. Arrange the potatoes in a single layer, leaving enough space between them for proper airflow. Cook them in multiple batches if you have a large amount.
- Insufficient oil: Potatoes need some oil to crisp up in the air fryer. Toss the potatoes in enough oil to coat them evenly.
- Cooking time and temperature: Adjusting the cooking time and temperature may be necessary. If the potatoes are not cooking through, try increasing the cooking time slightly. Alternatively, if the potatoes are browning too quickly on the outside, reduce the cooking time or lower the temperature.
Do you need to boil potatoes before putting in air fryer?
The need to boil potatoes before putting them in an air fryer can vary depending on the recipe and personal preference. Some suggest parboiling the potatoes for a few minutes before air frying to partially cook them and achieve a crispy texture faster.
However, other recipes skip the boiling step and directly cook raw potatoes in the air fryer, ensuring they are sliced or diced appropriately for even cooking.
Whether or not you choose to boil the potatoes before air frying is up to you and the specific recipe you are following. For this recipe, I do not boil the potatoes before cooking in the air fryer.

Storing, Freezing and Reheating Tips
Refrigerator: Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Reheating: Reheat the potatoes and carrots in the air fryer at 360°F for around 3-5 minutes or until they are hot.
Freezer: This recipe is best freshly made. The potatoes may become mushy after being frozen and reheated.

Recipe FAQ's

Yes, you can use parchment paper in an air fryer. It's safe to use and is great to use with foods that might stick to the basket as it makes clean up easier. Add some holes to the parchment paper before placing it in the air fryer to allow better airflow and prevent the paper from flying around.
It is recommended to arrange them in a single layer for the best results. This allows the hot air to circulate evenly around each potato, so they cook uniformly and get crispy on all sides.
If you have a large batch of potatoes, it's best to cook them in multiple batches rather than stacking them on top of each other. Be sure to shake or turn the potatoes halfway through the cooking process to ensure even browning.
