How to Make Crescent Rolls Better
Crescent rolls can go from simple to absolutely delicious with a few easy tips. Use the steps below to prep, roll, bake, and reheat them so they turn out soft, golden, and flavorful every time.
For even more help, check out my How to Make Pillsbury Crescent Rolls recipe post.
How to open Pillsbury crescent rolls
Gently peel away the paper seam on the can, then press along the perforated line with your thumb or the back of a spoon until it pops open. Avoid twisting, which can crush or tear the dough inside.
How to roll up crescent rolls
Separate the triangles and start at the wide end, rolling toward the tip without stretching the dough too tightly. Leave a little space in the roll so the layers stay soft and flaky as they bake.
Tip: If you find the crescent roll dough too sticky, sprinkle a little flour on the surface before rolling.
How long to bake crescent rolls
Bake at 375°F for 9–12 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown. Crescent rolls can brown quickly near the end, so keep an eye on them. Always check the recipe you are following for specific baking instructions, as times can vary by brand, oven, and any added fillings.
How to reheat crescent rolls
Warm leftover crescent rolls in a 300°F oven for 5–7 minutes to bring back the soft texture. For extra flavor, brush the tops with a little melted butter as soon as they come out of the oven.

Insider Tips from My Kitchen to Yours
✔️ DO brush the rolls with melted butter before and after baking for the best golden color and flavor.
❌ DO NOT overbake, or the rolls will dry out and lose their soft, flaky texture.

Storage & Serving Tips
Refrigerate: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, and reheat in a warm oven to bring back the soft, flaky texture.
Freezer: Freeze baked crescent rolls for up to 1 month, wrapped well to prevent freezer burn, and thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
Microwave: Easily reheat leftover crescent rolls in the microwave: simply place them on a microwave-safe plate, cover with a damp paper towel, and heat on high for 10-20 seconds or until warmed through.
Air Fryer or Toaster Oven: For a crispier result, use an air fryer: reheat at 350°F for 2-3 minutes until golden and warm. Allow the rolls to cool briefly before enjoying!
