How to Bake Chicken Cutlets without Breading
If you wanted to try a different marinade, you can try a blend of herbs, spices, citrus juices, or even yogurt that will help retain its moisture during baking.
Adjust the cooking time based on the thickness. Thicker cuts may require a few extra minutes in the oven.
Basting the chicken halfway through cooking helps keep it moist and enhances flavor. Use a spoon or brush to apply the sauce evenly.
To ensure it's fully cooked and safe to eat, use a meat thermometer to confirm the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
Can I marinate the chicken in the sauce beforehand?
Yes, marinating the chicken in the sauce for a few hours or overnight can enhance the flavor. Place the sauce and the chicken in an airtight container or zip top bag and refrigerate while it's marinating.
Can I add vegetables to the baking pan with the chicken?
Absolutely! Adding vegetables like carrots, broccoli, or potatoes can make this a one pan meal. Just ensure the vegetables are cut into small, uniform pieces to cook evenly.

Substitutions and Variations
Instead of butter, you can use olive oil as a substitute if you prefer. This will still provide richness and flavor to the sauce.
Add more red pepper flakes if you'd like the dish spicier.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Line a baking pan with foil and place the chicken in. Season with salt and pepper and set aside.
Step 2: Make the honey garlic sauce by combining the butter, honey, garlic, mustard, and red pepper flakes in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Once well combined, pour over the chicken.
Baking Instructions
Step 3: Bake at 425°F for about 30 minutes. Halfway through the cooking time, spoon the sauce over the chicken to baste it. Continue baking until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
Quick Tip
Start to check the chicken around 25 minutes for doneness to make sure you don't over bake it and dry out the chicken.

Storage and Reheating Instructions
Refrigerate: Place any leftover chicken cutlets in an airtight container, and store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Freezer: Allow the chicken cutlets to cool completely before freezing. Place them in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze until solid to prevent sticking. Transfer the frozen cutlets to a freezer safe zip top bag or airtight container, and freeze for up to 2-3 months for the best quality.
Thaw and Reheat: Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before reheating. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for about 20-25 minutes or until thoroughly heated. If reheating directly from frozen, it may take a bit longer.
Top Recipe Tip
For easier cleanup, line your baking pan with aluminum foil or parchment paper before placing the chicken in the oven.
