Easy Tips for Hosting Brunch
Planning and serving brunch can take some preparation and thought. Here are some important questions to consider when serving brunch for family:
Plan ahead. Decide on the menu, drinks and any decorations at least a few days in advance. This will give you enough time to prepare the dishes and make any necessary adjustments.
Make dishes in advance. To avoid last-minute stress, prepare dishes that can be made ahead of time such as Overnight French Toast Casserole, make-ahead Overnight Cinnamon Rolls, and even fresh green and fruit salads.
Offer a variety of foods. Make sure to have a balance of sweet and savory foods, as well as options for any dietary restrictions. Simple dishes, such as fresh fruit or crescent roll cream cheese danish and pastries, go great with any egg type breakfast recipe you're serving.
Keep drinks simple. If you plan on doing easy cocktails, that's fine, but also provide non-alcoholic options such as coffee, tea, juice, or sparkling water. Check out my non-alcoholic beverages for more ideas!
Set up self-serve stations. Set up drink and food stations so guests can serve themselves. This allows guests to customize their own plates and makes the event more interactive.
What time should you host a brunch?
In general, brunch is usually served between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on weekends, holidays and special celebrations. This allows guests to sleep in a bit, but not so late that the meal becomes lunch instead.
Ultimately, the best time to host a brunch depends on your own schedule, your guests' availability, and the occasion you're celebrating.
